Will the Tesla Phone Pi Be Superior to the Huawei Mate 50 Pro? Check Out a Fair Comparison

Source: Huawei

Tesla has some great news for its numerous fans out there: the company is getting into the smartphone industry, as its upcoming Tesla Phone Pi will be released in December or in the first half of 2023! We can expect only the best from the product, such as top-class hardware specs, advanced connectivity options, and more.

Huawei also released its Mate 50 lineup this September, and we spoke about it back in July. It was well-known from the start that the Chinese tech giant would give its best, and it was later confirmed that we were talking about a powerful phone.

Considering that we know the specs of the Huawei Mate 50 Pro (courtesy of GSMArena) and some rumors about what the upcoming Tesla Phone Pi will be capable of, let’s see which one of the phones would be better! Remember: we don’t know for sure yet what will the Tesla Phone Pi will be capable of, so feel free to take the specs mentioned here with a grain of salt!

Tesla Phone Pi has a higher refresh rate

Perhaps everybody acknowledges the importance of having a higher refresh rate on a smartphone if you’re willing to put the device to some serious work, and that’s a chapter where the Tesla Phone Pi is clearly superior to the Huawei Mate 50 Pro. The upcoming Tesla phone is expected to be featuring a 144Hz of refresh rate, which is truly insane, and we can’t wait to see how those games look on such a display! On the other hand, the Huawei Mate 50 Pro sports ‘only’ 120Hz of refresh rate.

As for the rest of the specs, considering the display, both phones are indeed powerful. Tesla Phone Pi should be equipped with a huge 6.9 inches Super AMOLED display and 1344×2772 pixels for resolution. Its competitor features an OLED display of 6.74 inches and a resolution of 1212 x 2616 pixels.

Performance: Tesla wins

Tesla Phone Pi will likely be equipped with Android 13 out of the box, while Huawei will once again have to prove that there is life without Google’s operating system for mobile devices. Huawei Mate 50 Pro runs on EMUI 13; HarmonyOS 3.0.

The chipset is where things become interesting. Tesla Phone Pi will likely carry a Snapdragon 8 Gen1 (4nm) chipset and a CPU of 3.2 GHz. Huawei Mate 50 runs on Snapdragon 8+ 4G Gen 1 and an octa-core CPU: 1×3.19 GHz Cortex-X2 & 3×2.75 GHz Cortex-A710 & 4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A510. However, the lack of a 5G connection on the Huawei Mate 50 Pro is a ‘grave sin.’ 5G connections are practically a ‘must’ nowadays. Tesla Phone Pi wins this round as well.

Cameras: the prize goes to Tesla

The Tesla Phone Pi is also a powerhouse when it comes to the cameras if the rumors are true. On its rear, the upcoming gadget should feature a 108MP Main Wide camera, a 50MP Ultrawide snapper, another 50MP P. Telephoto sensor, and a 5MP Macro snapper. The main camera setup is also expected to record video up to 8K. The front camera consists of a 48MP sensor, and it can record video up to 4K@60fps.

On the other hand, the cameras of the Huawei Mate 50 Pro are far less impressive. The main setup consists of a 64MP periscope telephoto lens, a 50MP wide camera, and a 13MP ultrawide camera. The selfie camera only reaches 13MP. Both the rear and the front camera of Huawei’s phone can record video up to 4K.

Conclusion

There you have it, Tesla Phone Pi surpasses the Huawei Mate 50 Pro in a few key areas, based on the rumors about the former and the facts about the latter. But the big disadvantage that Huawei’s phone will have in the face of the Phone Pi from Tesla is the lack of 5G connectivity, and that’s a fact.
