GTA 6: Everything You Need to Know

After almost nine long years since GTA 5 was first released for consoles, Rockstar finally confirmed working on a sequel back in February. The internet is filled with rumors and info about what GTA 6 might be like, and we spoke a lot about those possibilites. For instance, you can check out our previous article about a massive leak indicating a possible release time and some story info. You can also feast your eyes on a concept trailer made by a fan in Unreal Engine 5.

Rockstar Games had recently been under dispute with a hacker who caused a massive leak of information and footage regarding GTA 6. What’s interesting is that the guys from Rockstar didn’t seem to try to hide the incident. Here’s an official statement coming from the company, according to GamesRadar:

We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto.

It’s crystal clear at this point that the game is on its way, although nobody can offer a precise release date. Well, nobody except Rockstar, but it’s in their best interest to prolong the tension and mystery.

GTA 6 will have a female protagonist

GTA 6 will follow the recipe promoted by its predecessor, GTA 5, where there’s more than one single protagonist. Among the roster of the GTA 6 protagonists, there’s also a woman. The presence of the female protagonist has been confirmed by the leak that we mentioned earlier, although such an implementation was rumored for months by various sources. The name of the badass girl that will be looking for trouble in the next GTA game is Lucia.

A guy named Jason also appears among the protagonist characters for GTA 6. It’s unknown how many of those protagonists will exactly be, but our guess is that there will be three, as happened previously in GTA 5. The player will likely get to choose either one of them and make them collaborate with one another for several story missions. Again, that’s a scheme that we’ve seen for the first time in GTA history in the last game of the series, GTA 5.

A return to Vice City

GTA Vice City, a game that’s 20 years old, has been a massive success. One of the most debated and long-mentioned rumors about the GTA 6 map is that it will represent a recreation of Vice City, and that rumor has now been confirmed to be true thanks to the unofficial leak of info and footage for Rockjstar’s future game. GTA 6 will indeed mark a return to Vice City, which is a depiction of Miami. Rockstar has already applied a similar recipe in the case of the map for GTA 5, as they’ve recreated and expanded Los Santos, a map existing in GTA San Andreas, a much older game made by the same developer.

There’s even some speculation that GTA 6 will implement Everglades, which is a wetland, as well as the Florida Keys, meaning some tropical islands. We’ve seen plenty of islands in GTA 5, so it would definitely be unsurprising for Rockstar to focus more on such areas for GTA 6.

More stealth gameplay for GTA 6

Titles such as GTA 5 or GTA San Andreas had their fair amount of stealth gameplay, but they were nowhere near top stealth games such as the Hitman or Sniper Elite series. Rockstar seems determined to change all that with GTA 6 by introducing some exciting stealth elements such as allowing the player to carry bodies, go prone, and more. Leaked footage confirms these elements as well, and surely no GTA fan can complain about such level of gameplay.

Just in case the GTA 6 protagonist that the player is controlling will go through too much unbearable pain, Rockstar will likely introduce something that wasn’t seen too often if video games: painkillers. That’s right; if your character is going through too much pain while wounded, for instance, he’ll likely get to swallow a pill rather than add a bandage.

The fans’ demands

All of the new elements that we’ve mentioned to arrive in GTA 6 are exciting, without a doubt, but surely the fans have even more expectations. Although GTA 5 is in the top 3 best-selling video games ever, the developers could still have done better work in some areas regarding the game. For instance, the fans want more enterable buildings. We all have to admit that GTA 5 doesn’t have too many buildings where the characters can enter. This is in big contrast with GTA San Andreas, as the 2004 game had many more enterable buildings despite having a smaller map.

More work on the dialogues and story for GTA 5 could have also been a good idea. The game is not doing badly in those areas, that’s for sure, but still, plenty of gamers were complaining about some of the aspects. For instance. the dialogues are too full of foul language and unnecessary phrases. “Everbody in this game just doesn’t shut up,” one fan wrote once, and maybe he’s right.

Just a few days ago, the tech giant Sony suggested that GTA 6 might be officially revealed soon enough. Either way, we can surely expect the game to be revealed by Rockstar sooner or later. Back in June, another interesting piece of information emerged, as it claimed that Niko Bellic and Michael De Santa would also be present in GTA 6, meaning two iconic characters of the Grand Theft Auto series.

Our anticipation is that we’ll all get to see an official trailer in 2023. Stay tuned, and feel free to bring your own speculations and expectations regarding GTA 6 in the comment section of this article!
