While Dragon Ball is mostly about fighting and getting your hands on the dragon balls to wish for immortality or other greedy wishes, the franchise also has its fair share of fighters who are always prone to making a fool of themselves. If you thought that Yamcha and Krillin were the weakest fighters in Dragon Ball, you are in a big error!
Yamcha and Krillin are both exceptionally strong compared to a normal Earthling. These two are among the few human fighters in the franchise, and although they are very weak compared to Saiyans such as Goku and Vegeta, Namekians such as Piccolo, or deities such as Beerus and Zeno, they can still actually pack a punch.
S-Tier:
Mr. Satan
Chiaotzu
Yajirobe
Monaka
Mr. Satan is probably the most annoying character in the history of anime. Introduced back during the Cell Saga of Dragon Ball Z, Mr. Satan is the guy who had won the World Martial Arts Tournament when the Z warriors were busy with Frieza on planet Namek. That’s the reason Mr. Satan is extremely cocky, up to the point of extreme stupidity.
Even though Mr. Satan clearly knows some level of martial arts, he is nothing compared to fighters such as Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Trunks, or even Yamcha and Krillin. Even so, Mr. Satan doesn’t hesitate to claim credit for the heroic acts of other fighters, and he cannot comply with the fact that there are many others stronger than him.
Chiaotzu, the main partner of Tien, was introduced back in the original Dragon Ball series. Chiaotzu has some pretty interesting fighting techniques, but he is still much weaker than the rest of the Z warriors. We haven’t seen Chiaotzu in a fight since the Saiyan Saga of Dragon Ball Z, when he chooses to self-destruct in order to kill Nappa. However, that kamikaze maneuver of the poor guy failed.
Yajirobe was also introduced back in the original Dragon Ball series during a fight with Goku when our beloved hero was just a child. Later on, Yajirobe has rarely been involved in any fights throughout the franchise and decides to remain in the Korin Tower for lacking a decent power level and the right courage. Yajirobe cannot even fly.
Monaka is a fighter introduced in Dragon Ball Super as supposedly the strongest fighter of Universe 7. However, that was a little gag pulled by Beerus, as the God of Destruction later admitted that Monaka was actually weak. Beerus has only been using Monaka as a way to motivate Goku and Vegeta.
A-Tier:
Chi Chi
Videl
General Blue
Spopovich
Yamu
Chi Chi, the wife of Goku, has also been a martial artist. She confronted Goku during the World Martial Arts Tournament when the two were teenagers. Chi Chi proved to have some strength, even though she easily got defeated by her future husband. Later on in Dragon Ball Z, during the Majin Buu saga, it was revealed that Chi Chi had trained Goten, the youngest son of Goku, to become a Super Saiyan.
Videl is the wife of Gohan and the daughter of Mr. Satan, the former champion of the World Martial Arts Tournament. She has some fighting skills, although she is nothing compared to the powers of the Z warriors. Videl couldn’t even fire energy blasts or fly, as her boyfriend Gohan tried to teach her.
General Blue, a character introduced in the original Dragon Ball series, was a high-ranking officer of the Red Ribbon Army who had extraordinary psychic abilities. But even so, General Blue was significantly weaker than Goku and the rest of the Z warriors.
Spopovich and Yamu are two Earthlings who were also in Babidi’s army of minions. They had the task of causing chaos and gathering energy for the revival of Majin Buu. Even though both Spopovich and Yamu are strong compared to ordinary humans, they are still nowhere near the Z warriors. They were easily defeated.
B-Tier:
Krillin
Yamcha
Guldo
Babidi
Krillin is an old rival of Goku, as both were introduced back in the original Dragon Ball series when they were kids. They have trained under Master Roshi, and although Krillin was a rascal at first who often tried to cheat to obtain what he needed, he later became Goku’s best friend. However, Krillin is a very weak fighter compared to Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, or Gohan. But even so, Krillin is capable of some powerful and cunning fighting maneuvers, such as the Kamehameha, Destructo Disc, Solar Flare, and more.
Yamcha was also introduced during the very first Dragon Ball series, and he was known as the Desert Bandit, who was afraid of girls. Being a villain at first, Yamcha tried to take down Goku, but he failed. Yamcha later became a trustworthy fighter and ally of Goku and the others, but he still proved to be weak in numerous battles. However, it’s fair to say that Yamcha is just about as strong as Krillin, as both of them were trained under Master Roshi.
Guldo is a member of the Gyniu Force, and he made his appearance during the Frieza Saga of Dragon Ball Z. Guldo was a significantly weak character, although he possessed some extraordinary fighting techniques. For instance, he had the power to stop time for his opponents by holding his breath.
Babidi is not exactly a fighter. He is an evil wizard who was responsible for reviving Majin Buu from his deep slumber in Dragon Ball Z. Buu later became the strongest villain the Z warriors ever had to face until that point. Even though Babidi has a very low power level, he can still wreak havoc through his evil wizardry.
C-Tier:
Tao Pai Pai (aka Mercenary Tao)
Nam
King Chappa
Bear Thief
Tao Pai Pai, also known as the Mercenary Tao, was the first major villain of Dragon Ball. He was hired by the Red Ribbon Army to kill Goku, who was just a kid at that time. Although Mercenary Tao was exceptionally strong for his time, as he first beat Goku severely, the villain is nothing in comparison with the DBZ version of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, and so on. Tao even became a cyborg later in Dragon Ball, but he was still no match for the Z warriors.
Nam is a fighter from a drought-stricken village who enters the World Martial Arts Tournament in the original Dragon Ball series to get money for his village. Even though he was pretty strong for his time, his strength pales in comparison with that of Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Gohan, Trunks, etc.
King Chappa was also a martial artist who won the World Martial Arts Tournament. This fighter was also introduced during the original Dragon Ball series, and he proved to be pretty skilled in hand-to-hand battles. However, Goku ultimately defeated him during their match.
The Bear Thief is a minor villain from the early episodes of the Dragon Ball series who tries to steal Goku’s Dragon Balls. However, the villain gets easily defeated.
