Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix Release Date on Netflix Revealed

Ubisoft / Netflix

Did you think Ubisoft to stop anytime soon? Well, fear not because we have a fresh new title announcement on Netflix, and by the looks of it, it will be fire! A preview trailer for Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix has just been released by Ubisoft, and we’re definitely left in awe. The forthcoming Netflix anime is based on the beloved Blood Dragon DLC for Far Cry 3, which was released back in 2013. Watch the movie’s official trailer down below to get a firsthand look:

Adi Shankar, the series creator, calls it “the most philosophically conscious show you’ve watched in a long time.” The show is a violent, dystopian fiction in the vein of Aldous Huxley’s works. So, for the connoisseurs this will be a delight! The animation was created by Bobbypills Studio.

This fall, Netflix will release the global premiere of Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix.

But there’s still more than meets the eye!

It all begins with a totalitarian state named Eden, reminiscent of Orwell’s 1984, which has supplanted the United States in this 1992 series setting. The protagonist, Dolph Laserhawk, is a super soldier who has been recently dumped by his girlfriend and incarcerated in Eden’s maximum security Supermaxx jail (ouch!).

Shankar relates:

[after Ubisoft’s proposal] I came back to them with a crazy concept inspired by the mood of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. This concept used Ubisoft’s vast library of characters, and remixed them into one delirious anime series that would become this love letter to the 90s… or at least how I remembered the 90s.

What do you think of Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix’s development so far, and what are your expectations?

The protagonist is thrust into a role in which they must take calculated risks on behalf of a band of misfit rebels. Probably a love tale with some really intense battle scenes that will mess with our minds, but hey, aren’t the finest heroes the ones that are the hardest to love?
