The Bizarre “What If” Future of Dragon Ball: How Goku and Vegeta Could Make Themselves Useful Without Fighting

Goku and Vegeta are the pride and joy of the Dragon Ball franchise, as it’s pretty impossible to imagine one of the anime or video games related to Dragon Ball without the two beloved pure-blooded Saiyans. Of course, the Dragon Ball Super Super Hero movie that came out back in 2022 has proposed a scenario in which Goku and Vegeta were not under the spotlight, leaving the opportunity for Gohan and Piccolo to save the day.

While both Goku and Vegeta have a lot of strength and powerful tricks up their sleeves, how would the future of Dragon Ball look like if these two warriors suddenly lost their powers? Surely, that is pretty improbable, but certainly not impossible.  Goku and Vegeta have other skills as well,  so let’s see what a bizarre “what-if” scenario of Dragon Ball could look like in the future:

Goku as a taxi driver

If we remember right after the Frieza Saga from Dragon Ball Z, both Goku and Piccolo were forced by Chichi to get their driving licenses. While both of them were exceptionally strong and proven to be able to save the planet, that wasn’t enough for Goku’s wife, who desperately wanted them to become drivers. After numerous attempts and damages to the cars caused by the reckless driving of Goku and Piccolo, the two beloved warriors were able to obtain their driving licenses.

Therefore, Goku could easily be a taxi driver, considering that he has a driver’s license.  Wouldn’t it be funny for the beloved Saiyan hero to be a taxi driver as a way of living instead of trying to save the world?

Vegeta as a chef

Back in the “Battle of Gods” movie that debuted back in 2013, Vegeta proved his talent as a chef while cooking the right food for Beerus, the God of Destruction, in order to make him give up his goal of destroying the Earth. Of course, the proud Saiyan Prince didn’t have any pleasure in cooking food, but that was just a desperate move in his attempt to divert the attention of Beerus, considering that the God of Destruction was way too powerful for Vegeta to handle in battle. Of course, there’s no shame in being a chef, but for a proud guy such as the Saiyan Prince, that was indeed a much tougher battle than any other.

Therefore, Vegeta could easily play the role of a chef, at least for his family:  his wife Bulma, his son Trunks, and his daughter Bulla.  Vegeta is already a loving father, as Dragon Ball Super has proved to us, so why wouldn’t he become a chef as well, at least for his family? However, if Vegeta somehow loses his superpowers in the future of Dragon Ball, he needs to do something for a living. Being a chef seems like a good alternative.

Mentorship and training

If Goku and Vegeta somehow lose their superpowers, that doesn’t mean that they cannot teach what they know about martial arts to others. They can become trainers and mentors, teaching young fighters to overcome their fears and insecurities.  Goku and Vegeta can teach others how to fire energy waves, multiply their power levels, meditate enough so that they can harness all their energy in battle, and so on. Goku might be very goofy sometimes, and Vegeta might be way too proud most of the time, but that doesn’t mean that these two warriors wouldn’t be able to do anything else with their lives except for fighting.
