Oregon State University (OSU) has started construction on a new research building that will be named after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and his wife, Lori, who are alumni of the university.
In a conversation with OSU President Jayathi Murthy, Huang said, “This is the beginning of a new world,” referring to recent advancements in the field of generative AI.
Huang went on to say that thanks to chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, “You essentially have a collaborator with you at all times, essentially have a tutor at all times.”
According to Huang, Microsoft is well-positioned to benefit from the innovative technology that has been developed. Microsoft attracted attention last year when it invested $13 billion in the company that created ChatGPT.
However, this partnership runs much deeper. Microsoft initially acquired a stake in OpenAI in 2019 and has been working hard to improve its digital assistants ever since.
