Facebook has been around for many years, and it’s more than just a social network with almost 3 billion monthly active users. It has certainly become a way of life for many of us and a new reason to find life extremely beautiful and worth exploring.

Jokes aside, for now! According to CNBC.com, Facebook made the big announcement recently of changing its company name. Therefore, ladies and gentlemen, prepare to grasp the new moniker!

The new name is “Meta”

The new “Meta” moniker reflects the company’s huge ambitions beyond social networking. And if we look a bit in the past, such a claim is indeed justified. The company has also been deeply involved in the Virtual Reality field.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg declared as quoted by CNBC.com:

Today we are seen as a social media company, but in our DNA we are a company that builds technology to connect people, and the metaverse is the next frontier just like social networking was when we got started

Zuckerberg also wrote in a letter the following:

Our hope is that within the next decade, the metaverse will reach a billion people, host hundreds of billions of dollars of digital commerce, and support jobs for millions of creators and developers.

However, despite Facebook’s undeniable popularity, the app was downgraded from the status of the most downloaded software in the world back in August. Instead, TikTok took the lead.

We all have to admit that it’s very difficult to remain outside of Facebook, regardless if you like the app or not. You can use it to see what your friends or foes are doing, see important posts of institutions, take into account important events from your city, and so on.
