Bad News For Sonic Superstars: No Levels From Past 2D Sonic Games Will Be Added

Sega

Sonic Superstars will not include any levels from previous 2D Sonic games in its content, which is a fact! The creator of the Sonic series, Takashi Iizuka, has come up with quite a statement regarding the newly revealed Sonic Superstars. We had no idea that something like this would happen!

A brand-new two-dimensional Sonic game, dubbed Sonic Superstars, was shown by Sega during the Summer Game Fest event. In the simultaneous local four-player co-op mode, you may take control of Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, and Amy at the same time (quite surreal!). There are new skills and powers that are based on the elements, as well as distinct levels, gimmicks that are unique to each stage, and varied boss battles.

Check out the official trailer of Sonic Superstars below:

You will definitely recognize Dr. Eggman, also known as Robotnik, and Fang, the Sniper, from their previous appearances in Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble and Sonic the Fighters. Both of these characters are present in Sonic’s current journey, plus a new character that’ll spice things up a bit.

Sega adds that designer Naoto Ohshima, who developed the original appearance of both Sonic and Eggman, is also back with a new character for Sonic and his pals to struggle with. These two adversaries aren’t the only ones Sonic and his allies will have to worry about, though.

This fall, Sonic Superstars will be available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/ PlayStation 5, Xbox One/ Xbox Series X/S, and, of course, PCs via the Epic Games Store and Steam. Sonic Superstars comes with quite the price tag of $59.99.

Here’s an interesting fact about the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

The devs have made a tradition by recycling the same parts over several versions, such as the Green Hill Zone. And it got to the point where even reimaginings appeared pointless at this time. The new Sonic Superstars may be a different kind of Sonic, after all!
