What Would Happen if We Eradicate the Covid-19 Virus?

It’s quite doubtful that the U.s, much alone the rest of the globe, will be able to eradicate the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 altogether.
However, there will come a time when it is no more a pandemic when infections are under control, and hospitals aren’t at risk of overcrowding. Many specialists believe that the transmission of coronavirus will resemble that of seasonal influenza.
What is less obvious is how and when this will occur.

“There’s not even a measurement to say that something is an epidemic or pandemic. All of this is in the eye of the beholder — and that’s part of the issue. So, all of this is not based on rules. It’s based typically on what you have to do to control the outbreak,” Monto said. “What is so different here is that our vaccines are much more effective than what we usually see.” declared epidemiology professor Dr. Arnold Monto.
Monto and other health officials believe that in the future, the globe will be able to follow the development of SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes Covid-19, in the same manner, that seasonal flu is tracked. We don’t know if SARS-CoV-2 will follow a similar seasonal trend, but it does serve as a reminder that most respiratory viruses begin to behave in predictable patterns around the holidays.
Endemic denotes that disease is always present in a community, but it does not afflict a huge number of individuals in the way that a pandemic does. Even while the pandemic was building up in early 2020, WHO officials expected that the new coronavirus will become an endemic disease in our society.
When it comes to pandemics, there is a pandemic phase, followed by a slowdown period, a controlling phase, and then, ideally, eradication.
