A lot of people are asking when Dragon Ball Super is coming back. The last 131st episode of the anime ended in March 2018, along with the spectacular outcome from the Tournament of Power arc. But we’re here to tell you that Dragon Ball Super will indeed come back soon in many forms.

Furthermore, Dragon Ball Super is even ongoing in its manga version. Goku and Vegeta have to go through a lot of thrilling situations, and they’re already at the second major villain after the Tournament of Power arc. But the Dragon Ball legacy will continue with both a brand new movie and the second season of the anime. While there’s not much info about the latter, there’s some info about the movie.

“Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” launches in 2022

The brand new “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” movie will launch in 2022, and there’s not much more to know about the release time. The first thing that captures our attention is obviously the animation, which is something completely new in Dragon Ball. We can see Goku doing some stretching while depicted in a 3D-vibe animation, and it looks awesome!

The movie will be a sequel to the “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” production that came out in 2018. We also know that Pan, the granddaughter of Goku, is in kindergarten for the upcoming movie. This means that the timeline will be placed sometime after the latest events from the Dragon Ball Super Manga, when Pan is still a baby. It will obviously be a time skip of several years, which opens the path wide for plenty of possible scenarios.

Let’s see some of what we’re imagining to see in “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero”:

Evil Goku comes to the scene from a parallel universe

There has been plenty of time travel in Dragon Ball, while parallel universes were also there. The fans had been speculating a lot when Goku Black started to cause disaster and chaos in the Dragon Ball Super anime that he is the evil version of Goku. Well, he was, but he wasn’t exactly Goku. He was Zamasu’s soul stealing the body of Goku from a different timeline after killing the Saiyan.

But some of the fans meant something way more sinister by using the term “evil Goku”. The beloved Saiyan was pure evil when he was a baby, and he was sent to Earth to kill all life forms. Later on, Goku got hit on his head when he was still a baby, having his personality completely twisted. But if Goku never got hit on his head, he would have grown up to be a completely evil person. Therefore, the fans thought that Goku Black was none other than the real Goku from a parallel universe who never got hit on his head.

Why wouldn’t we expect an evil version of Goku to arrive in the “Super Hero” movie? This scenario has been intensely speculated by the fans for a lot of while, and many of them wanted to see it implemented in Dragon Ball. Let’s remind ourselves that the script of the Dragon Ball Super anime has been pretty faithful to what the fans wanted (something pretty unusual for Dragon Ball, however): Master Roshi started to fight again, Gohan regained his lost fighting spirit, Vegeta shows affection for his kids and proves that he loves Bulma, Goku lost his maturity and started to care only about fighting, Yamcha became the complete failure from the online memes, and so on. It’s obvious that we could be approaching the long-awaited scenario of an evil version of Goku from a different timeline coming into the action.

Vegeta becoming the hero for once

Akira Toriyama never seemed to forgive Vegeta for his sins of the past, when he was a blood-thirsty henchman working for Frieza. The Saiyan Prince has pretty much always been Goku’s second, and rarely got the opportunity to shine a bit. Vegeta had his moments and major contributions in defeating main villains, but Goku was generally under the spotlight. A lot of Vegeta fans want to see the Prince of all Saiyans as he beats the living senzu beans out of a major villain and gets to be the hero of an arc for once.

We don’t know yet who will be the major villain in the upcoming “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” movie, but we suspect that Frieza won’t be up to no good once again. The former intergalactic tyrant had a very dirty contribution in unleashing Broly’s unprecedented powers in the prequel movie, which could have been a hint that he’ll do something even a lot more evil in the future.

Vegeta has gotten incredibly strong since the end of the Tournament of Power arc, as he now has a transformation that can rival Goku’s Ultra Instinct technique. Known as Ultra Ego, Vegeta’s new form could make him the new hero. Furthermore, Vegeta still has that burning ambition of surpassing Goku. Since the two Saiyans are now pretty even in strength, Vegeta obviously wants a lot more.
