These Trees Explode During Freezing Storms, Here’s Why

Harsh weather is no longer a strange thing around the world. However, between too cold and too hot, some odd phenomenon arises.

Texas is currently experiencing a strange phenomenon where winter storms are terribly wrong, and trees can’t longer take it. Since last year’s ‘Texas freeze,’ it seems that the state has it the worst.

Now, trees are exploding during freezing storms, releasing frightening sounds like loud pops ringing out all night, similar to gunshots.

But why is that happening?

Not a New Strange Occurrence

According to specialists, exploding trees is not actually a new thing. The reason goes like this: as temperatures fall, tree sap starts to freeze and extend within the trees’ branches. And what comes next?

A big pressure wrecks the trees’ internal structure, resulting in shocking explosions. What’s worst is that many trees’ fragments are actually flying around, ending up on the ground. Such a thing causes a lot of havoc for many communities.

Also, low temperatures can split the largest trees vertically, destroying them completely.

People are advised to spend time outside as little as possible. Back in 2021, 70,000 people from Texas were left without power.

But the falling trees have taken out many roads and infrastructure, as well, turning into the worst-case scenario. The damage could take up to months to be repaired, but that’s the last thing people should consider as their lives and the animals’ are more significant.

What is the Moon of the Cold-Exploding Trees?

The strange phenomenon that scared Texas is actually being observed and recognized by First Nations people, including the Sioux of The Dakotas and the Cree. They succeeded in coming up with something called the first moon of the New Year, or the “Moon of the Cold-Exploding Trees.”

As Texas experiences such a tough time, let’s hope it will end soon without any other issues!
