When Super Mario was doing his thing on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) 8-bit console back in the ‘80s and early ‘90s, the game was a must-have for many. Released in 1985, Super Mario for NES inspired a huge amount of games. It was the first Super Mario game ever. Avoiding obstacles, collecting points, and dealing with foes at every corner seemed like the perfect recipe at that time that many developers implemented for their virtual creations.

Therefore, there’s no wonder why the Super Mario game for NES is considered a legend. Thanks to NintendoLife, we now know that another copy of Super Mario Bros. for NES that was never opened hits a new record after being sold for a staggering price on the collectables rite Rally.

$2 million for a copy of Super Mario Bros. for NES

Would you ever pay $2 million for a copy of the legendary Super Mario Bros. game for the Nintendo Entertainment System? Probably not. We wouldn’t do it, either. But someone else just did it, leaving the world speechless.

For many gamers who are now adults, the 1985 Super Mario was like a goldmine. The title marked the beginning of our journey as gamers. For those who were born after the year 2000, the game might not mean anything. And it’s understandable!

However, Super Mario appeared in a total of about 200 video games. There’s enough material to choose from if you want to meet the Italian plumber for the first time. The most recently released game is Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, which was released this year in February for Nintendo Switch.
