Both Oppo and Tesla will release a new smartphone in the near future. While it’s not surprising at all for the Chinese tech giant Oppo to prepare a new phone, we certainly can’t say the same in the case of Tesla. The famous automotive company where Elon Musk is CEO hasn’t released a flagship smartphone before, but you know what they say that there’s a first time for everything.

The upcoming Tesla Phone Pi is expected to debut at some point around April 2023. It’s expected to bring some mind-bending features for a smartphone, such as the ability to recharge its battery without the user having to connect the charger. That could be possible due to exposure to enough sunlight.

As for the upcoming Oppo A58 5G, it shall be revealed by the famous Chinese manufacturer next week on Friday. It doesn’t qualify as a flagship, as it’s more of a budget phone that shines in some areas. It’s still fun to compare it to the upcoming Tesla Phone Pi, so let’s get it going:

Display

Tesla Phone Pi is expected to be equipped with a 6.9 inches Super AMOLED display. The phone will also be capable of an incredible refresh rate of 144Hz, which is more than enough to run smoothly pretty much any game or app.

The display of the Oppo A58 5G is pretty decent, but it’s not spectacular. We’re talking about an IPS LCD display of 6.56 inches and an HD+ resolution. The refresh rate is also significantly lower than what Tesla’s phone will have to offer, as it reaches only 90Hz.

Performance

Tesla Phone Pi will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset of 4nm and a CPU that can reach 3.2GHz. It’s pretty difficult to ask for anything better in this area!

Oppo A58 5G is expected to be powered by a Dimensity 700 chipset from MediaTek. That’s not a top chipset, that’s for sure, but it can still do its job pretty well while under modest usage.

Cameras

We can expect to take a lot of beautiful and large photos using the cameras mounted on the Tesla Phone Pi if we’ll choose to buy such a device after it launches. Tesla’s upcoming device will have a quadruple-camera setup where the main ‘star of the show’ is the 108MP lens. There will also be an ultrawide lens of 50MP, a P. Telephoto sensor of 50MP, as well as a 6MP Macro sensor.

As for the Oppo A58 5G, the device will be equipped with a dual camera setup mounted on the rear. That translates to a wide snapper of 50MP and a depth sensor of 2MP.

Price

While you’ll likely have to spend about $800 if you want the Tesla Phone Pi in your pocket, the Oppo A58 5G will be a lot cheaper, costing around $200 to $250. The difference is indeed huge, but pretty justified. Even so, Tesla’s phone is surprisingly cheap for the powerful features that it has to offer.

Conclusions

Surely everybody can agree that the Tesla Phone Pi is superior to the Oppo A58 5G in all areas, so it’s obvious which phone receives the winning prize. However, buying Oppo’s phone can still represent a good option if you’re not heavily into smartphones. One big “sin” that Oppo has committed in designing its phone is that it didn’t implement protection against water. We can’t say the same about Tesla’s phone, so there you have another advantage in the backyard of the automotive company.

Remember to take all the specs of the Tesla Phone Pi with a  grain of salt, as we can’t be sure of anything until the smartphone actually comes out!
