Magnetic Tunnel Surrounds the Solar System, Says Scientist

The Solar System is indeed a huge enigma. Astronomers learn more and more about it as time passes, but even so, there are more things to discover. What lies on the edges of the Solar System could also turn out to become an amazing field of exploration.

Futurism.com writes about an incredible new model claiming that the Solar System is surrounded by a magnetic tunnel. The two major structures known as North Polar Spur and the Fan Region are under the focus of an astronomer right now. The new idea is that the two structures are part of a huge magnetic field that surrounds the Solar System.

Seeing a tunnel in every direction?

The new wild idea emerged after a computer model was built to simulate radio sky as viewed from Earth.

Dr. Jennifer West, an astronomer who’s also the leader of a research team, declared as quoted by Futurism.com:

If we were to look up in the sky we would see this tunnel-like structure in just about every direction we looked – that is, if we had eyes that could see radio light.

But there could be even bigger plans up ahead. West declared, as also quoted by Futurism.com:

Magnetic fields don’t exist in isolation. They all must connect to each other,

So a next step is to better understand how this local magnetic field connects both to the larger-scale galactic magnetic field, and also to the smaller scale magnetic fields of our Sun and Earth.

The Solar System is the place where humanity will abide for a very long time, whether we like it or not. It’s hard to believe that the world will have the knowledge in the near future to move to another solar system, not to mention to another galaxy.
