Do you know about the secret link that exists between Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher? Both of these games may be played on their own, but they are connected to one another in Night City through a series of oblique references and winks that blur the boundary between fact and fiction. Wait, what?!
Thanks to a devoted player of The Witcher III was able to unearth an extraordinary sign buried inside Velen’s Destroyed Bastion. The emblem bears a strong resemblance to the cyber-lines that can be seen on the monuments that can be seen in Night City in Cyberpunk 2077. The fact that the runes of this sign show something quite similar to “FF06B5” when translated loosely just serves to make the mystery that much more perplexing.
Well, that’s something quite impressive, isn’t it?!
The fact that these two completely different worlds are entangled in one another raises issues concerning the reality and make-believe aspects of Night City. Johnny Silverhand, voiced by Keanu Reeves and appearing in Cyberpunk 2077, is a constant companion who, similar to the untrustworthy storyteller trope seen in The Matrix, may not be totally trustworthy in his perception of events. It becomes clear that rogue AI meddling, similar to the challenges faced by Neo in The Matrix, has an essential part in both games.
As fans look further into these links, the intriguing notion of potential crossovers or familiar mythology between the universes of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher grows more likely. The developer of both games, CD Projekt, provides players with these oblique clues in the hopes of encouraging them to delve deeper into the secrets that lie dormant under the surface.
And as if things weren’t already bizarre enough, a fascinating exchange between Geralt and Ciri hints at a possible allusion to Night City. This relationship, although subject to interpretation, shows that The Witcher world goes beyond its own fictionality. References to the original game may be discovered within periodicals that are dispersed all across Night City. Who on earth would believe anything like that?!
