Have you ever thought about AI music? Well, now, thanks to Google’s new MusicLM, we can try an AI musical experience. Google’s AI Test Kitchen app now has a preview version of MusicLM, which was trained on hundreds of millions of hours of audio to learn how to compose new music in a variety of styles. How cool is that?!

How does MusicLM actually work? What’s best about this AI musical thingy is that it is really simple to use. So, after being granted access, you will see a text box where you may input a song description in as much detail as you wish. Then, the system creates two different versions of your song. Quite impressive, isn’t it?!

You can choose to download and listen to your songs offline, while Google requests you to “thumbs up” one of the tunes to aid with the performance of the AI. Although it’s still in beta, you can now join up to test it out on the web, iOS, or Android, right in Google’s AI Test Kitchen.

What are your thoughts about AI, especially in music? Would you give it yourself a chance?

According to Google, it has collaborated with musicians to actually “see how this technology can empower the creative process.” But as great as that could be, MusicMLM still works in a murky realm, far from the AI technologies that can impersonate a certain musician. Of course, that doesn’t mean we won’t see some upgrades in the future!

However, the most crucial factor, according to research scientist Neil Zeghidour, is that MusicLM is “used by artists in a way that is meaningful to them and can allow them to explore new ways of creating sounds.”

The Google AI Principles, a set of rules for ethically creating technology, were followed when creating MusicLM.
