The God of High School is one of many popular anime adaptations released in the last few years and tells the story of a high school student that joins an international martial arts tournament.
The story takes place in a school in Seoul, South Korea in a reality where the supernatural is real and people are able to fight using the might of gods.
The student, by the name of Mori Jin, wishes to win the grand prize and be the so-called “god of high school” as a result.
Of course, like in any other story out there, Mori Jin makes many new friends but also enemies and also learns that martial arts are much more than just fighting other people.
As it turns out, there is something much bigger going on behind the scenes of this tournament that seeks to find the strongest high school fighter in Korea.
The shady company behind it all promises to grant the winner’s wish, no matter what it is, no questions asked.
The God of High School is especially well praised for its action scenes, being considered to be some of the best animated fight sequences in the anime genre.
But that is not all it has going for it as the audience may come for the action choreography and stay for the likable, fleshed out characters.
The music and the art style are really impressive as well, making the anime even more remarkable.
The first season premiered in September of 2020 and was a huge hit, many wondering whether we’d get a second season or not.
Sadly, nothing about that has been officially shared at this time, much to the disappointment of fans who were buzzing for more at the end of the first season.
Of course, given the massive success the anime received, it would only make sense the story will continue at some point in the future.
And when it does, you won’t want to miss it! God of High School has impressive action scenes and animation, compelling characters and an equally compelling story that just works!
What’s there not to like?
Season 2’s exciting plot is likely to focus on the tournament the first season hints at, showing many epic battles but we might also get to learn a little bit more about the gods and how they’re connected to the tournament.
