Ubisoft Joins Microsoft in Skipping E3 2023: What This Means for the Future of the Electronic Expo

After having initially confirmed that it would be attending E3 2023 in Los Angeles this summer, Ubisoft has now stated that it will not be doing so. This comes after the company did so one month ago. Ubisoft Forward is the name of the company’s upcoming conference, which is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on June 12, just one day before E3. This action mirrors the decision that Microsoft made to not attend the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) and instead hold its own Xbox-specific event called Xbox FanFest.

Since it was first held in 1995, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) has established itself as the most important trade show for video games anywhere in the world. The event regularly draws hundreds of game developers and publishers from all over the world. However, in recent years, its importance had begun to decline, and some businesses had stopped attending altogether or attended only sporadically. The pandemic forced the cancellation of the event in 2020, and after it was moved online-only the following year, it was officially called off in 2022.

It should not come as a surprise that Ubisoft will not be attending E3 2023 because the event’s continued importance has been called into question for some time. In addition, both Microsoft and Nintendo have stated unequivocally that they will not be present, and recent reports indicate that Sony will also be absent from the event. This leads one to wonder what the future holds for the trade show, particularly when one considers the growing tendency of businesses to organize their own events in order to demonstrate their wares.

Ubisoft Forward is an online showcase that was first introduced in the year 2020. On this platform, the company presents the most recent game announcements, updates, and trailers. At the event that took place the year before, attendees learned the latest information about popular game series such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Watch Dogs. The event will likely provide gamers with a more in-depth look at what the company has planned for them in the future. Viewers will not be charged.

In conclusion, the future of the event is uncertain because both Ubisoft and Microsoft have decided not to participate in E3 2023, and it is rumored that other companies will follow their lead. Ubisoft Forward and other showcases that are analogous to it may, on the other hand, provide gamers with an alternative way to remain informed about their preferred franchises.
