Apple has just released the latest version of its mobile operating system, which is known as iOS 16.4. This update brings a number of new features and enhancements to users of the iPhone and iPad. There are a total of 21 new emoji characters, including a shaking head, pink heart, and donkey, that have been added to the keyboard with this update, which comes just two months after the launch of iOS 16.3. Other improvements include a new HomeKit architecture, Safari web notifications for websites that have been added to the Home Screen, Voice Isolation for improved clarity during cellular phone calls, and more.

Voice Isolation, which utilizes advanced algorithms to prioritize the user’s voice and block out ambient noise for the purpose of improving call clarity, is one of the most significant changes that has been implemented. When placing calls in environments with a lot of background noise, you will find this feature extremely helpful. In addition, the Apple Books page-turning animation, which had been removed in the previous update, has been reinstated with this update.

In addition, iOS 16.4 enhances accessibility features, such as the capability to automatically reduce the brightness of videos whenever strobe effects or flashes of light are detected. The update also addresses issues that could cause Matter-compatible thermostats to become unresponsive when paired with Apple Home and fixes a bug that could prevent Ask to Buy requests made by children from appearing on the device used by their parents.

By going to Settings > General > Software Update, eligible users of the iPhone and iPad can download the update wirelessly over-the-air. On the other hand, due to the high volume of requests, the update might not be available to all users for some time.

In general, iOS 16.4 introduces a number of minor modifications and alterations that, when combined, result in an enhanced user experience. As Apple prepares to shift its focus to iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, which will most likely be announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference expected to take place in June, this update could be one of the last ones for iOS 16 and iPadOS 16.
