Dear boys and girls, ladies and gents, since 2022 is almost over, it’s time to have a quick overview of the best phones that came out this year! Tech behemoths such as Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Google, and others had something to say in 2022 for the smartphone market. Therefore, the million-dollar question arises: which one is the best smartphone that came out this year? We’ll try to find out together!

Obviously, we have to take into account only flagships for the list that you’ll see below. Those who like to use midrange or entry-level devices will have to excuse us, although nobody denies the importance of those latter devices as well for the market. It’s a person’s right not to be necessarily interested in having a top smartphone, but here we’ll be talking about the most powerful models of 2022. Let’s cut to the chase:

ASUS Zenfone 9

Who would have thought that ASUS would ever get involved in manufacturing smartphones after having a long-lasting relationship with laptops? Probably nobody, but the tech world works in mysterious ways! The new ASUS Zenfone 9 launched back in September, and it proved to everyone that it’s indeed possible to have both small sizes and powerful specs on the same smartphone.

ASUS Zenfone 9 also stands out due to the presence of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, the long-lasting 4,300mAh battery, the side-mounted fingerprint sensor, the Sony IMX766 Sensor packing Gimbal Module, the 120Hz Samsung AMOLED display, and more. Just as pretty much any respectable smartphone nowadays, Zenfone 9 also features IP68-rated resistance to dust and water.

The main camera of ASUS’s phone is also capable of recording video of up to 8K quality. The front camera is not doing badly in that area, either, only that it can record 4K video at its best.

Google Pixel 7 Pro

Google decided in recent years to get involved a lot more in the hardware area, and we must say that we’re pretty impressed with the results. The Pixel 7 Pro that came out this year in October features the tech giant’s latest Tensor G2 chipset, 8 to 12GB of RAM, Android 13 out of the box, and a lot more.

The Google Tensor G2 chipset is custom-built with the company’s AI. Not only that it makes the phone faster and more secure, but it even delivers “the best photo and video quality yet,” according to Google’s presentation. Who are we to contradict them?

The users can also benefit from the Cinematic Blur effect to give their videos a major change. Last but not least, the Real Tone function is able to accurately represent all skin tones when the user takes photos with the new Pixel 7 phones.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

Foldable smartphones will soon become the next real deal in town, which means that it’s practically mandatory to take a look at what the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 has to offer. The gadget is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, has 12GB of RAM, and a huge Foldable Dynamic AMOLED display of 7.6 inches when you unfold it. The refresh rate of 120Hz is more than enough if you need to run pretty much any game or app you want as smooth as possible.

The cover display of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is a Dynamic AMOLED type, and it has the same refresh rate of 120Hz. It measures only 6.2 inches, but it’s more than enough to keep you informed with some basic notifications you need.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 also comes in up to 1TB of storage, and there’s no card slot available.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

If you don’t see the new Galaxy Z Fold 4 as a good candidate for a potent foldable phone, you can surely take a peek at what the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is made of as well. This latter model was launched by Samsung in August, and it can fit in any pocket as soon as you finish using it. The hardware specs are also pretty interesting: the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and so on.

We must say that we were definitely expecting more power from the cameras of the Galaxy Z Flip 4, but you just can’t have them all in life!

Samsung Galaxy S22

Samsung’s new Galaxy S22 series landed in February, just as everybody expected. The new phones in the lineup hardly have any improvements compared to last year’s Galaxy S21 series, but they still represent some nice products, and they’re also definitely worthy of being called flagships.

The S22 Ultra, meaning one of the variants of Samsung’s new flagship for 2022, features a quad-camera setup with a wide angle from 50MP to 108MP. There’s also a 10MP telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom. Last but not least, we have to mention the up to 100% super-resolution zoom.

Apple iPhone 14

Apple released the new iPhone 14 lineup back in September, and you probably already know the highlights. The new iPhones are equipped with the latest and the greatest A16 Bionic chipset, advanced cameras, and more. But perhaps the most interesting addition is represented by the potentially life-saving feature known as the SOS Emergency via Satellite, although it has been having some trouble lately.

Meanwhile, Apple released a new iOS update that aims to fix the issues with the SOS Emergency via Satellite feature of the iPhone 14.

What the feature does is that it grants users the chance to reach the emergency services with no effort if they’ve been through a car crash.

Apple’s new iPhone 14 lineup comes in four variants: the standard iPhone 14, the iPhone 14 Plus, the iPhone 14 Pro, and the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The order of the list is purely random, and of course, your opinion might be totally different compared to ours. Feel free to reveal it below in the comment section!
