Tekken 8 Unfolds a New Chapter: What to Expect?

Tekken 8, which was initially shown off during PlayStation’s September 2022 State of Play event, does not yet have a date set for its release. Well, that’s quite a shame, but it’s somehow understandable. Fortunately, Bandai Namco has been releasing character trailers for the game on a consistent basis, as well as early builds of the game have been made accessible.

What is the plot?

Tekken 8 will continue in the same spirit as its predecessor, picking up directly from where the previous game left off and beginning a new chapter. Of course, there’ll be a plot twist that’s going to spice up things!

This time, the spotlight is on Kazuya Kazama and his son, Jin Kazama, as the confrontation that was destined to take place between the two carriers of the Devil gene is about to take place. Jun Kazama, who has been absent from the action for a number of games, has also made his way back into the fray, this time donning a new look courtesy of Bayonetta artist Mari Shimazaki.

Who are the characters in Tekken 8?

According to reports, Tekken 8 will have a total of 16 playable characters, two of whom will have alternate versions of themselves. They are as follows:

  • Jin Kazama
  • Kazuya Mishima
  • Marshall Law
  • Paul Phoenix
  • Nina Williams
  • Claudio Serafino
  • Hwoarang
  • Bryan Fury
  • Jack-8
  • King
  • Lars Alexandersson
  • Jun Kazama
  • Ling Xiaoyu
  • Lili
  • Asuka Kazama
  • Leroy Smith

What is the gameplay?

The mood in Tekken 8 is undeniably more combative, and every character has their own distinct fighting style and an extensive moveset. Still, the Heat system, which serves as a substitute for Tekken 7’s Rage Drive, is most certainly going to be the deciding factor in the overall experience!

So, how exactly will each of these Heat characteristics function?

  • You can add two additional stocks to your Heat gauge by using Heat Engagers, which are more complicated movements that are character-specific.
  • You are able to carry off a spectacular strike with the help of Heat Burst, which opens the door for you to begin a combo.
  • You are able to swiftly close the deficit with the help of Heat Dash.
  • In Heat State, players are able to perform chip damage, and the characteristics of some moves change as a result.
  • The Heat gauge is depleted completely while using Heat Smash, but in return, a tremendous attack is unleashed.

The demolition of stages is another significant aspect of Tekken 8. Although it will be a lot of fun to pull off in the game, it will also be fascinating to watch since Bandai Namco has honed the impact so that it stands out more in esports competitions.

Platforms for Tekken 8

Tekken 8 will not be available on the previous generation of gaming consoles when it is released for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
