Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 15W Wireless Charging is Not That Good, New Report Shows

Bad news for Samsung fans: the 15 W wireless charging speed of the Galaxy S23 Ultra is 33% slower than it was back in 2022. How could such a thing be possible? I mean, there’s definitely a catch, isn’t it?! Once again, Samsung’s already-slow charging capabilities fell short of users’ expectations (oops!). According to fresh testing from the popular website PhoneArena, the wireless charging on the Galaxy S23 series is this time slower than that on earlier Galaxy S22 phones.

What did the website do was to actually compare wireless charging for three models, which include the basic, Plus, and Ultra S22s and the S23. What was the verdict? PhoneArena explains:

The three new members of the Galaxy S23 series charge way slower than the Galaxy S22 series according to our testing.

Some folks like to hypothesize that speedy charging will reduce battery longevity, but at this time, we have years of real-world market data that disproves such worries. We have to admit we all have our doubts. But, there isn’t a single person who claims that rapid charging has ruined their battery life despite the fact that companies like Xiaomi, OnePlus, or Oppo have been supplying quick-charging solutions for several years. So, what is Samsung’s deal?

Practically, the flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra is the model that failed the test the worst. Quite disappointing, isn’t it?! Well, it’s about to get worse.

Although the S23 Ultra and S22 Ultra had 5000 mAh batteries and 15 W wireless charging, the new phone charged much more slowly, even when using the certified chargers. You can see the issue here. Moreover, the wireless charger took exactly 1 hour and 58 minutes to fully charge the S22 Ultra. On the other hand, it took 2 hours and 37 minutes for the S23.

Finally, not only does charging to full take an additional 39 minutes, but the phone also displays a general slowdown in charging that wasn’t included in Samsung’s spec sheet. Could Samsung explain such things?!
