Like any other South Korean citizen, idols also have to enlist in the military for two years, but by the age of 30, not 28. It is now time for Shownu to go to the military, and Monbebes are happy that he wrote them a letter. The news was published at the beginning of this month, and the letter was posted on the official fansite.

Shownu writes a touching message for fans

In his letter, the idol mentions that he will be taking a hiatus and fulfil his military duties. He promises to work hard, and he is thankful for the love and support messages from fans. Shownu also asks Monbebes to keep on rooting for Monsta X and wait for his return. Starship Entertainment announced that the military training would begin July 22, and after a training period, the idol will work as a public service worker. The main reason for the public server position is due to the idol’s health background that included retinal detachment issues and a dislocated shoulder.

Shownu got a new haircut

After his agency released the statement, the idol posted pictures on the band’s Twitter account. In the pictures, he appears with a new buzz cut, and he writes a lovely message to fans.

Unfortunately, fans will not be able to send him off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is sad news as many fans are used to attend special events when their favourite idols enlist in the military. MONSTA X is a seven members boy band, and they debuted in 2015. For six years, they have offered hits such as ‘Beautiful’. Monbebes will have to wait for two years until Shownu gets discharged and can resume his musical career with the other band members: Wonho, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Jooheon and I.M.
