House Of The Dragon: We Finally have a Release Date

House of The Dragon is back on track. The Game of Thrones prequel is in development, but since there were some cases on COVID-19 on the set, they decided to suspend the work. The tv show will be released in 2022, after filming resumes.

So when is the exact release date?

Back in December 2020, Warner Media released a video in which they talked about the release date of some of their most popular names. House of The Dragon was on that list, and it should be released in 2022. We just don’t know exactly when. Since the production began in April 2021, it’s probably going to make its appearance in the second half of the year.

The first teaser for the trailer was released, and we got a glimpse of what happened 200 years before Game of Thrones.

About the plot of the series

The show will be based on the novel Fire and Blood written by George R. R. Martin. It is about the Targaryen Civil War. We’ll see the brutal war for the Iron Throne and the fight between Rhaenyra Targaryen and Aegon, her half-brother – this is the part where all dragons go extinct.

After King Viserys Targaryen dies, the houses split in order to decide who is the proper ruler of the Seven Kingdoms.

The cast comes with famous names

  • Paddy Considine will play King Viserys Targaryen
  • Olivia Cooke will play Alicent Hightower
  • Emma D`Arcy will play Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen
  • Matt Smith will play Prince Daemon Targaryen

The show will air on HBO in the US and on Sky Atlantic in the UK.

Even if some characters from Game of Thrones will appear in the new show, David Benioff and D.B. White are out of the picture. Miguel Sapochnik will be the showrunner, together with Ryan Condal. Ramin Djawadi will take care of the music.
