Smartphones carrying a 200MP main camera don’t really represent something new, but we certainly can’t remain unmoved when we see one. It’s also the case for the Honor 90, which sports such a camera despite being only a midrange phone.

Thanks to NextPit, we now know that George Zhao, the CEO of Honor, has officially unveiled two new devices beyond China: the Honor 90 and the Honor Pad X9.

Honor 90 specifications

The new phone is available in Europe and other Western markets at a starting price of £449.99 (or about $570). The phone stands out for a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with rounded edges on all sides, granting a resolution of 2,664 x 1,200 px, 120 Hz of refresh rate, and a maximum brightness of 1,600 nits. That means that you’ll get to clearly see the display of the Honor 90 even if you’re standing right next to the sun! It’s probably the highest brightness ever seen on a smartphone!

Weighing 183g and measuring 161.9 x 74.1 x 7.8 mm, the Honor 90 is surely very slim. The phone also sports an octa-core Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 “Accelerated Edition” processor, which provides improved performance compared to the base processor. The device boasts a 200 MP main camera along with a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera and a 2 MP depth camera. For selfies, the gadget features a 50 MP front camera in a punch-hole design. In other words, taking pictures of very far away objects that will look as if they’re right next to you will be possible due to the new Honor 90 smartphone. Very few devices are capable of a 200MP main camera sensor.

Additionally, the Honor 90 is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery that features fast charging up to 66 W SuperCharge.

Surprisingly enough, those who will use the Honor 90 will also have access to Google Mobile Services, including the Google Play Store. In other words, they’ll get to download their favorite content (games, apps, songs, etc.) from the official Android marketplace.

Honor Pad X9 specifications

Honor Pad X9 features an 11.5-inch IPS display boasting a 2K resolution (2,000 x 1,200 px) and a refresh rate that reaches 120 Hz. The tablet offers an immersive visual experience.

Measuring 267.3 x 167.4 x 6.9 mm and weighing 495 g, the new Honor tablet is also sleek and relatively small. It also features an aluminum casing. Under the hood, you’ll find a Snapdragon 685 processor, with four ARM Cortex-A53 cores reaching up to 1.9 GHz and four ARM Cortex-A73 cores clocked at a maximum speed of 2.8 GHz. The tablet is also equipped with an Adreno 610 GPU in order to delight many of those who are into gaming.

The Honor Pad X9 comes with a 7,250 mAh battery, ensuring ample power for the six speakers, which deliver immersive 360-degree “Dynamic Sound.” The tablet also has cameras, surprisingly or not, as it features a 5 MP front and rear camera. However, the absence of expandable memory card support and a 3.5 mm audio jack may be perceived as drawbacks.

The Honor Pad X9 is available in Space Grey, and the price starts from £179.99 (~$230). The sale begins on July 10.

We spoke about the release of the Honor 90 in late May, and it was clear from the start that we were talking about an impressive smartphone, although it doesn’t feature the latest and the greatest mobile processor. Therefore, feel free to check out that article as well!

A lot of people still believe that somehow tablets are dead, and that such devices lost a lot of fans in recent years to the detriment of smartphones and laptops. But with the release of new tablets from tech giants that took place in recent years, it’s clear that such devices still have a lot to prove.
