fans of the iconic video game franchise “Grand Theft Auto” who have been waiting with bated breath for the next major entry in the series may have reason to celebrate as a trustworthy source in the gaming business has divulged some information about the next game. Earlier this year, Rockstar Games said that “Grand Theft Auto 6” is in the process of being created, but the game company did not disclose any other details.

RAGE 9

An insider in the gaming industry known as Matheusvictorbr disclosed in an interview that the forthcoming title of the Grand Theft Auto video game series will make use of the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine (RAGE) 9, which Rockstar believes has the potential to actively be competitive with the Unreal Engine 5. According to the source, the RAGE 9 is packed with a wealth of capabilities, some of which are only available in GTA 6 versions.

These features include significant enhancements to the ways in which players and non-player characters (NPCs) interact with one another and the environment around them. In addition, the game engine is said to have the potential to transform environmental effects, such as the way in which the wind affects cars that players are driving, and also the physics of water.

The groundbreaking gameplay elements of the game engine will also be put to use in “Grand Theft Auto 6.  In a word, the game engine is the software architecture built specifically for the production of video games. It is the equivalent of the CPU in personal computers and is responsible for processing data in order to make games.

When juxtaposed to Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5, which really only handles textures with a resolution of 12K, RAGE has featured textures with a resolution of 16K since 2018, indicating that it has collected more functionality in the period of four years. The source said that GTA 6 will be a game that is ahead of its time in comparison to RAGE 9, which was also mentioned.

These specifics correspond to what the author of Rockstar Magazine, Chris Kippel, has said on the RAGE 9:

Obviously, the new version of the graphics engine of #RockstarGames (RAGE9) which will be used for #GTA6 is likely to be quite incredible. I was able to get very positive feedback, we really shouldn’t be disappointed on this point. We are talking about an engine ahead of its time.
