According to a tweet from Nail Sadykov, the editor of the Google News Telegram, Google is apparently working on a new “Important” option for its Files app. This information was shared by Sadykov. On the other hand, Sadykov discovered that the camera option was unable to launch Google Camera since it lacked the necessary permissions.

The new Important folder seems to be similar to the existing Secure Folder in Google Files, however there are several significant distinctions between the two. For instance, in contrast to the Secure Folder option, it enables users to share files without requiring them to first remove them from the protected area. In addition to that, it makes use of an Android Biometric Prompt, which takes the place of the conventional prompt in which a PIN or pattern is entered. Because the owner of the device is required to use their fingerprint to access their private files when prompted by the biometric prompt, this method is both more secure and more handy than needing to memorize a PIN or pattern.

It’s possible that Google is also working on updating the Nearby Share functionality seen within the Files app. This could involve eliminating captions and developing a page with a more extensive description of the function, in addition to standardizing the size of the buttons across the board. In the most recent update to the Play System, which was released in February 2023, Google implemented a number of enhancements to Nearby Share. One of these enhancements enables users to permanently pin the notification for the sharing feature, which makes it much simpler and more intuitive to transfer files between different devices.

This latest innovation from Google illustrates the company’s ongoing dedication to enhancing the safety and convenience of its users. The new Important folder in the Files app provides a more secure way to store and exchange critical files, and the usage of biometric prompts increases both the security and the usability of the platform. Redesigning Google’s Nearby Share function demonstrates, among other things, the company’s commitment to providing its users with a simpler, more intuitive, and simplified overall experience. It is crucial for firms like Google to stay abreast of the latest technological breakthroughs and provide novel solutions in order to cater to the requirements of their user base as technology continues to advance.
