Banners for the first half of Patch 3.3 focus on Scaramouche, the game’s primary 5-star character, also known as The Wanderer. You can only get him during special timed banners, and those aren’t always available. His banner will soon become available, so you should prepare for him.

Hypercarry character

Many people would classify Wanderer as a hypercarry. A hypercarry is a damage-dealing support character who is expected to spend more time in the game than any of their teammates. Teammates of a hypercarry either provide damage from off the field or magnify the hypercarry’s damage, allowing for greater totals. There are several other hypercarries, such as Cyno or Eula.

The two main ways in which hypercarries differ from standard carries are the fact that regular carries don’t accomplish both of these tasks, or vice versa. Xiangling is a carrier because she often provides the most damage for her team, but she is not a hypercarry because she does not play a disproportionate amount of the game.

In terms of stat construction, Wanderer is a simple character: he prioritizes high base attack, critical strike, and agnostic damage percentages. This is why the finest weapons and artifacts for him will represent his unique needs. The best moves, however, will be determined by the companions the Wanderer has around him.

In contrast to other Anemo DPS characters like Xiao, Wanderer has the unique ability to fly and hover in midair while attacking. Since this is the case, Wanderer is also great for discovering new areas of the overworld. Also, he’s the only catalyst user who focuses on Normal Attacks, so you can enjoy the benefits of both button mashing and technical play to increase your maximum damage output.

Unfortunately, his full potential is contingent on the 4-star Anemo support making their introduction on the same banner as him, Faruzan. Faruzan is best used in tandem with Wanderer, as no other character in the game can provide the same level of support to Anemo DPS characters as she can. When playing Wanderer, it helps to have a strategy in mind for the best possible attack combo to maximize damage. Different situations call for unique sequences of attacks.

Weapons

Whether or not Bennett is on Wanderer’s side determines which weapon is best for him to use aside from his trademark weapon which is Tullaytullah’s Remembrance. Although Bennett is a top-tier support for Wanderer, his Elemental Burst has a negative impact on the value of ATK% weapons due to the large boost it provides to the team’s overall attack power.

How to attack

  • If you want to give Wanderer a boost when he enters the field, you should make sure the buffs your supports have been providing have not yet expired.
  • If you have access to Wanderer’s Burst, use it immediately.
  • Hover in midair with the use of the Wanderer’s Skill.
  • Then, immediately after, launch a Charged Attack like the Wanderer. This will set into motion the effects of his greatest weapon (Tullaytullah’s Remembrance) and artifact set (Desert Pavilion Chronicle).
  • Stand your ground, avoid moving until absolutely essential, and launch an assault.

There are three possible attack sequences

There are three parts to a Wanderer’s Normal Attack, and if you keep mashing the attack button, you’ll get the same attack again and over again. Tullaytullah’s Remembrance and Shimenawa’s Reminiscence are both Normal Attack buffs that can be used in conjunction with this.

“N2C Spam” — Wanderer may get a small bit of extra damage out of inferior weapons that don’t grant Normal Attack buffs by abusing the fact that his Charged Attack doesn’t expend stamina when flying in mid-air. Start with two Normal Attacks, then follow up with a Charged Attack, and keep doing this until Wanderer’s airtime ends.

While in the air, if Wanderer is using the rare event weapon Dodoco Tales or is attempting to Swirl elements as often as possible, he can spam the Charged Attack button for the entire time. The Dodoco Tales benefits will remain active if you use it with a Normal Attack once every 5-6 seconds.
What a Nomad Needs to Know About Recharging Their Batteries

If you plan on using Wanderer’s Burst regularly, you’ll need a second Anemo character to make particles for him. There were occasions when he needed to recharge his energy at a rate of 180%-200%. These needs can be lowered to 150–170 if another Anemo character is present, along with a character that is proficient at energy funneling and who is armed with a Favonius weapon.

Nevertheless, it is more damaging in the long run to not construct Energy Recharge at all and instead to rely solely on his power from Normal Attacks and usage of Elemental Skills while Bursting at ease. With Constellation 2’s enormous Elemental Burst buff, Energy Recharge is once again a worthwhile purchase.

Artifacts

Do not fret over Energy Recharge; instead, pay attention to the following key statistics.

  • Get Anemo DMG Bonus for goblet
  • Choose CRIT Rate or Damage for circlet
  • Use an ATK% clock artifact

Best builds

Both of Wanderer’s viable playstyles necessitate extensive field time for the character:

  • Hypercarry that has the percentages of attack, damage, and critical hit are prioritized.
  • Or driver who uses all their artifacts to perfect their mastery of the elements.

Drivers are in-game aids that boost the damage output of off-field DPS characters with artifact sets like Viridescent Venerer. Competitors for this position include Sucrose and other 4-Stars, and Sucrose performs better than Wanderer does because she can share some of her Elemental Mastery stat with the group and has crowd control and enemy grouping built into her Skill and Burst.
