Elden Ring DLC Seemingly Pushed to Next Year!

The creator of the popular action role-playing game Elden Ring, FromSoftware, said earlier this year that an additional DLC for the title was in the works.

The DLC, with the working title Shadow of the Erdtree, was anticipated to debut sometime this year.

After all, it felt like FromSoftware would have more than enough time to release it before the end of the year since it was announced so early in 2023.

That being said, however, it appears that this may not be the case anymore and fans will have to wait way longer than anticipated to start experiencing new Elden Ring material.

The parent business of FromSoftware, Kadokawa, has published its financial statements for the previous fiscal year, as noted by Gamingbolt.

It shouldn’t be unexpected considering how effectively Elden Ring dominated the gaming industry for months after its release that the business made sure to remark in that report that it was a huge success sales-wise.

However, by examining Kadokawa’s prediction for the current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2024, the crucial information for the DLC can be found.

Shadow of the Erdtree is not mentioned there, however. Instead, it consists only of Armored Core 6 and a number of fresh titles from Spike Chunsoft, along with a selection of their mobile goods.

The fact that Elden Ring’s DLC is categorized under “mid to long-term direction” creates a number of possibilities.

The most obvious explanation would be that they just aren’t ready to reveal the date just yet and are exercising additional caution because they are aware that supporters are eagerly anticipating it.

It is obvious that Kadokawa is dedicated to keeping up with Elden Ring because it states that it is “pursuing the maximizing of profit through prolonging the life of the IP.”

As mentioned before,  given how popular that game has grown, this news is not shocking, but it is still important to note.

The alternative is that readers won’t be able to get their hands on the DLC until after April 1, next year.

Armored Core 6 would be the sole FromSoftware game in plans for this year as a result of its release occurring in the next fiscal year.

Depending on the upcoming installment’s size, that is definitely a possibility. However, given the early 2023 announcement of Shadow of the Erdtree, it seems doubtful that fans will really have to wait that long to experience the DLC.
