Bardock, the father of Goku, was seen in the Dragon Ball series only in flashbacks so far. A long time ago, when Frieza was preparing to destroy the entire Saiyan race, Bardock was pretty much the only one who dared to confront him.

There had been a lot of hints in the Dragon Ball Super manga regarding a possible return of Bardock. Any Dragon Ball fan out there knows very well that the franchise never had a problem when it comes to bringing back characters from the dead.

Goku reminds about his parents

Bardock has been heavily mentioned in the Granolah the Survivor arc of the Dragon Ball Super manga. The Saiyan was supposedly the one who lent Granolah’s mother a helping hand to make her escape from an evil threat.

In an upcoming chapter, Goku surprisingly remembers his parents: Bardock and Gine. This is shocking considering that Goku had seen his parents face to face only when the mighty Saiyan was still a baby.

Behold:

You can see in Bardock’s eyes the hope he had for his son before sending him to planet Earth in a spaceship. Bardock wanted to make Goku flee from a planet that was heavily under terror by Frieza’s regime. The evil emperor had no possible threat at that time, no one that would be able to stand a chance in defeating him. Bardock took that chance and failed, dying along with almost the entire Saiyan race. But before his death, Bardock had a vision about his son, realizing that he’ll be the one who would defeat Frieza one day.

The fans are surely waiting to see Bardock again in Dragon Ball, and it will be interesting to see how he’ll be able to keep up with his adult son or with Vegeta. Bardock was light-years weaker than these two warriors are now, but you know what they say that time solves them all.
