Dragon Ball FighterZ: Top Tier List of All Characters

Dragon Ball FighterZ (DBFZ) is perhaps the most successful 2D game in the world, and another amazing fact about it is that it doesn’t even give you the feeling that you’re dealing with a 2D game.

There are lots of characters to choose from while playing DBFZ, and you constantly have that feeling that you see all of the Dragon Ball anime combined. There are characters from Dragon Ball Super, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, and even from the very first Dragon Ball series when Goku was just a child, but a very strong one.

Thanks to PocketTactics.com, we have a tier list of all the characters from Dragon Ball FighterZ. Feel free to see it below, along with a few observations from us:

Tier S

  • Android 21
  • Android 21 (Lab Coat)
  • Bardock
  • Gotenks
  • Goku (GT)
  • Kid Buu
  • Super Saiyan Blue Vegito
  • SS4 Gogeta
  • Vegeta

Seeing Bardock in this tier is indeed surprising, considering that the father of Goku is light-years weaker than his son in the anime. However, we don’t deny his powers in the game. Goku from GT is another surprising appearance, and not just because a lot of Dragon Ball fans hate the Dragon Ball GT series.

Tier A

  • Adult Gohan
  • Broly
  • Cell
  • Goku
  • Kefla
  • Piccolo
  • SS4 Gogeta
  • SSB Goku
  • Ultra Instinct Goku

A lot of folks would have expected to see Ultra Instinct Goku in the S-Tier, but you know what they say that you just can’t have them all in life. That’s the most powerful transformation of the beloved Saiyan.

On the other hand, Piccolo is indeed a nice addition, as the Namekian has always been keeping pace with the rest of the Z warriors.

B-Tier

  • Android 16
  • Android 18
  • Fused Zamasu
  • Hit
  • Jiren
  • Janemba
  • Majin Buu
  • Master Roshi
  • Super Baby 2
  • SSB Gogeta
  • Tien
  • Videl

We’re glad to see Master Roshi in this tier, as the old turtle hermit has proven to still have many to prove. It’s not available just in video games! Dragon Ball Super reactivated the old master and gave him an important role to play in the Tournament of Power. Even God of Destruction Beerus was amazed by Master Roshi’s performance in that tournament that counted for the survival of the entire Universe.

Our opinion is that Fused Zamasu would have deserved to be higher in the ranks, considering that he’s one of the strongest villains in the entire Dragon Ball franchise.

C-Tier

  • Android 17
  • Beerus
  • Broly (DBS)
  • Cooler
  • Goku Black
  • Krillin
  • Nappa
  • SSB Vegeta
  • Super Saiyan Goku
  • Trunks

Even though Beerus is one of the strongest Dragon Ball characters of all time, seeing him in the C-tier alongside Nappa or Krillin isn’t very surprising. The God of Destruction is not as good in DBFZ as he is in the anime, and we can’t blame anybody for that.

D-Tier

  • Captain Ginyu
  • Frieza
  • Super Saiyan Vegeta
  • Yamcha

We just can’t stop laughing when we see Yamcha in the same roster with Frieza, but Dragon Ball works in mysterious ways. Now seriously, despite the long list of mocking memes online about Yamcha’s terrible performances in the anime, he remains one of the strongest Earthlings. The fighter has some interesting moves, and let’s not forget that he’s even able to perform the iconic Kamehameha wave! Master Roshi was the one who taught Yamcha that technique long ago, as he did with Krillin and even Goku.

Otherwise, Dragon Ball FighterZ packs so much fun for anybody who’s willing to play a competitive fighting game! The title remains available for PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch consoles, as well as for PC.
