Assassin’s Creed Is Reportedly Set In Japan, Here’s What We Know

Fans are becoming naturally enthusiastic as we could be fast approaching the announcement of one (or more) new Assassin’s Creed titles, and it’s easy to see why. We do understand that Ubisoft will be “unveiling the future of Assassin’s Creed” sometime around September, however, we do not yet know precisely what will be displayed. Many people believe that it will take place during the “multi-game showcase” that will be held by Ubisoft Forward on September 10th, though this is not confirmed.

Fans have been theorizing that the “future” of the series may refer to the Assassin’s Creed Infinity video game. This is a forthcoming live-service video game, and it seems that it will model itself after games like Grand Theft Auto Online. The existence of the title has been verified, but we have not yet witnessed it in operation; hence, a comprehensive unveiling appears to be a reasonable expectation for what is to come.

However, prior to that, a famous industry insider named Jeff Grubb was heard discussing Assassin’s Creed on the podcast titled Games Mess Decides. He has divulged what he asserts to be the setting of a next game that will be released after Assassin’s Creed Rift but whose title has not yet been officially announced.

I can’t confirm this, but since so much of this other stuff is true, and this other stuff I heard from the same source, the [game] coming up after all this other stuff, or maybe it is part of Infinity, I don’t know, but it’ll be much more like the RPG ones, and it’s going to be set in Japan

There is little question that Assassin’s Creed fans would like playing a game that is set in Japan; in fact, a fan-made concept trailer recently went viral on the internet, showing just that point. However, as of right now, none of this has been proven, so you should take it all with a grain of salt.
