Viva Engage is Microsoft’s New Workplace Social App

Let’s face it: keeping in touch with your co-workers is not always an easy task, and that’s why more software is needed. Microsoft seems to solve that problem through the release of Viva Engage, the tech giant’s idea for maintaining an efficient collaboration between employees in and beyond the workplace.

Microsoft seems to create an environment suitable not only for work but for other sorts of discussions as well. Employees can share photos of their pets, for instance, and communicate with one another even if they’re away from the office. The main goal remains to give them the chance to feel more connected to one another. The Viva Engage app was created to create a more pleasant atmosphere at work, something that’s so needed nowadays!

Feel free to watch the presentation video of the app to learn more:

Dan Holme, the product lead of Viva Engage, explained for Yahoo Finance:

We did a pretty good job of using technology to meet virtually and to keep collaborating. But while we’re perhaps even closer with the people we work with every day … we’re not as close with people across the organization,

And those extended social connections at work are … really critical to employee well being, to making people feel like they belong and are happy and healthy at work.

It will be interesting to see if Microsoft Viva Engage is more efficient compared to other communication platforms that people use to collaborate with colleagues, such as Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, Skype, Google Meet, and more. We’re especially looking forward to seeing if the software can be better than Teams, the other communication app built by Microsoft. We’ll find out soon enough!

The move shouldn’t surprise anyone, however, considering that the Redmond-based tech giant is well-known for trying to make workers feel more at home via communication apps.
