Apple has spent a lot of time and effort over the last many years making the Maps app the best it can be. The new agreement was revealed today and will allow customers to book parking spots in places where it is available. Together, SpotHero and its customers will simplify access to more than 8,000 parking lots throughout the United States and Canada.

If you haven’t heard of SpotHero before, we’re a parking marketplace that launched in 2011 and lets drivers book and pay for parking spots online. It claims to be present in over 300 locations in the US and Canada and to have collaborated with over 1,600 operators. This is fantastic news; but, venue and location support is quite inconsistent, so you should double-check in advance to see whether SpotHero is available where you want to park. The new option may be accessed by opening Maps to your location, tapping the More button, and then, if present, selecting Parking from the drop-down menu that appears. Once you touch on this, it will lead you to the SpotHero webpage where it will enable you to reserve parking for that day or another day in the future. There is no smooth transition from the app to the SpotHero website.

SpotHero offers provide numerous methods in which parking may be filtered. Filtering parking spots by amenities such as electric vehicle charging and wheelchair access is possible. While this all appears flawless, when it comes to payment alternatives, you need to go as a guest or establish an account with the website. In spite of its usefulness, this feature isn’t fully incorporated into the app, thus, it doesn’t quite live up to Apple’s high standards. Moreover, SpotHero Is not available on other continents, such as Europe, so this feature remains a limited one.
