Elon Musk’s recent development is every sci-fi lover’s dream: a robot! Recently, Tesla unveiled a sleek humanoid robot model that the company believes might become a future product.

At Tesla’s AI Day, the robot, called Optimus, entered the stage stiffly and then slowly waved at the audience while making mand gestures for around a minute. Musk claimed that the robot was now moving independently for the first time.

Read out below all the cool details about the robot.

Optimus is Tesla’s Newest Robot

On Friday (September 30), Tesla unveiled a humanoid robot model that the company believes might become a great future project. Such a thing could be a huge development for the company’s future.

Optimus’ capabilities appear to be far behind those of rival robots like those from Hyundai-owned Boston Dynamics. But Elon Musk explained that this was the first time the robot was moving without a tether.

If you didn’t know, robots can’t walk without falling and hurting themselves. Thus, robotics researchers frequently support them with tethers.

“The robot can actually do a lot more than we just showed you; We just didn’t want it to fall on its face,” said Musk.

Tesla demonstrated the robot doing simple jobs like moving boxes and using a watering can to water plants.

According to Musk, robots might revolutionize society. Despite its shortcomings compared to rivals, the robot is far superior to what Tesla unveiled a year ago when a human went on stage wearing a robot costume and danced about.

The development of a humanoid robot is not unique to Tesla. Honda spent over two decades developing ‘Asimo’ robots as a collab with Hyundai’s Boston Dynamics, which is totally impressive!

Asimo was a humanoid robot that could run, climb, walk, and descend stairs while untethered in its final configuration. It also had fingers that could manipulate items.
