PS4: Can You Jailbreak The Recent Firmwares?

With the recently released pOOBs4 Jailbreak for firmware 9.00, the PS4 scene was more active than ever. Many tools and homemade games have been tweaked to take advantage of the new vulnerable firmware. As the cherry on top, Firmware 9.00 is quite new, therefore finding a PS4 with Firmware 9.00 or below at a fair price is rather simple. However, a rising number of individuals on firmware 9.03/9.04/9.50 are asking what’s in store for them.

If you want to jailbreak your PS4, the best option right now is to get a PS4 that is operating firmware 9.00 or below. Now, this is uncommon enough to mention: you could have better success purchasing a used PS4 9.00 than attempting to acquire a new one this time around since new models have been out of supply for quite some time. Of course, if you can find a new PS4 at a fair price, go for it; it’ll almost certainly be under 9.00 at this time.

Jailbreaking higher firmware

There are two key principles to follow if you’re trapped with a higher firmware and can’t afford a 9.00 PS4 for any reason: 1) be patient, and 2) do not upgrade your PlayStation 4. Between two jailbreaks, the average interval is roughly 9 months. However, it has ranged from four months to two years. Nobody can say how long it will be before the next exploit since there hasn’t been any substantial news on the exploit front. People shouldn’t hold their breath, however, since the latest jailbreak occurred just a few months ago.

There is no current debate regarding a “new” kernel vulnerability on the scene. There hasn’t been a single “leak” from any of the respectable hackers about anything that should be kept under wraps for the time being. This isn’t to say that nothing is going on below the hood, but it does suggest that consumers should be patient.
