There are lots of different things that can make us feel good, but what is the best way to get the healthiest benefits from them? Here are 8 natural wellness habits that will keep you mentally healthy and happy:

1. Walking

Walking is a great way to fight stress and anxiety. It can also help relieve mild depression. It has been shown to improve brain function and it is a natural anti-depressant!

2. Yoga

Yoga helps you relax by working on your breathing patterns. It allows your muscles to focus on just one thing at a time which helps you get into a meditative state where you can be relaxed and free of distractions. When your body is relaxed, so is your mind!

3. Meditation

Meditation is a way to quiet the chatter in your mind and help you “be in the moment.” Meditation can help with concentration, memory, self-awareness, creativity, relaxation, and more!

4. Laughing

Laughing is a natural anti-depressant because it stimulates the release of endorphins in our body which help us feel happy. If you aren’t someone who laughs easily or often enough (guilty!), then go look for something funny to watch or read!

5. Fresh food

Eat more fresh foods. Fresh fruits and veggies are packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytochemicals. They’re also rich in fiber and water which helps keep you hydrated and feeling full longer. Plus, the colors of fresh produce contain phytochemicals that help prevent cancer and other diseases. Consume at least five servings of fruits and veggies every day to help stay healthy.

6. Exercise

There’s no better way to combat stress than by exercising regularly. Exercise releases endorphins which give you an instant mood boost as well as helping you to get a good night’s sleep. You’ll feel less stressed when you exercise on a regular basis. Even if you can’t make it to the gym or go for a run every day, try to fit in some form of physical activity at least three times a week.
