The great day for the unveiling of Motorola’s new Moto X40 and Moto G53 models is over. The famous smartphone company shows that it still has some aces up its sleeve for these last weeks of 2022. While it’s certainly not difficult to remember the name of the Moto G53, we should all keep in mind that the Motorola Moto X40 is also known as the Motorola Edge+ (2023).

Exactly as a previous article from our publication shared the news, the Motorola Moto X40 model features the latest and top-end processor by Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Whether you’re willing to buy the Moto X40 or the Moto G53 model, you won’t need to wait for the latest Android update to arrive. That’s because Android 13 is already there preinstalled on the two new phones of Motorola.

In a nutshell, the Moto X40 model is clearly the better phone from the duo. Moto G53, on the other hand, is the weaker option, but it’s still a device that deserves some attention if you don’t have high demands from a smartphone. Now let’s delve into detail!

Motorola Moto X40: the best processor from Qualcomm

It’s a bit weird that even though the new Motorola Moto X40 is equipped with the latest and the best processor from Qualcomm, it has quite an affordable price. If you want to have the phone in your pocket, you’ll need to invest only about 460 euros. For that kind of money, you get a device that features up to 512GB of storage and a maximum of 12GB of RAM. Surely you cannot complain about the memory of the new Motorola Moto X40, although the phone doesn’t offer any card slot.

Moto X40 sports a 6.7 inches OLED display that’s capable of an impressive refresh rate: 165Hz. It can also reach a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a 20:9 ratio (~393 ppi density).

The cameras of the X40 are also pretty impressive, considering at least the fact that there’s a triple camera setup on the rear consisting of two 50MP lenses: the wide and ultrawide lenses, to be more precise. The telephoto lens, on the other hand, reaches 12MP. The camera setup is able to record video up to 4K quality, and it’s a bit surprising to conclude that there’s no 8K quality. The selfie camera consists of a wide lens of 60MP as well as HDR and video recording capability of 4K.

Motorola Moto G53: much less expensive than Moto X40

Priced at about 120 euros, the Moto G53 is about five times less expensive than the Moto X40. Surely you won’t use the G53 model for video editing, for instance, as its hardware specs are far from outstanding. G53 is available in 4/8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage space. This latter Motorola model also supports microSDXC memory cards.

Moto G53 also comes with an IPS LCD display of 6.5 inches, while surprisingly, it also reaches 120Hz for the refresh rate. The phone is also powered by a chipset built by Qualcomm, but at this point, there’s no telling what exactly that processor is.

The main camera of the Motorola Moto G53 consists of two lenses. One of them is a wide lens capable of 50MP, while the other is a macro lens of 2MP. Both the front and rear cameras are capable of recording video in Full HD. The selfie camera can also take photos in 8MP.

Both the new Moto X40 and Moto G53 models of Motorola are capable of 5G connectivity, while only the X40 phone is capable of IP68-rated dust and water resistance. As for the Moto G53, it only features a water-repellent design.
