Nowadays, technology is perhaps one of the most important things in our lives. And we need to know that what we’re buying is worth our money.

Apple has shown its new MacBook Air, which made its appearance with a new M1 chip. The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, advertised it as the Apple Silicon processor – and he managed to make the laptop even better. The MacBook is faster, and it comes with outstanding battery life. The reviews confirm it, and it is safe to say that they are positive.

But the thing is…MacBook Air still has a lot to improve and many features that it lacks – many of which can be found on Windows 10 devices. Surface Pro 7+ is among those devices. It is the latest device from Microsoft, and it has some advantages over the MacBook Air device.

A good example stands in the fact that if you want a convertible device that has a touch screen, Surface Pro 7+ will offer you that. But we can’t say the same for MacBook Air. When it comes to performance results, that touch screen may…not be what you want. Apple’s M1 processor and the 11th-gen Intel chips are both stunning, and it makes the touch-screen easy to live without.

But let’s compare these two devices and see which one is better.

Keyboard

MacBook Air comes with Apple’s Magic Keyboard design, which has improved a lot over time. It has 1mm of key travel. For the Microsoft device, you can choose from two detachable keyboard choices – the basic Type Cover or for the “Signature Edition” keyboard.

Display

MacBook Air with M1 comes with a Retina display, and the Surface Pro 7+ comes with a PixelSense display, and they both offer a great experience.

MacBook Air does not have a touch screen, but Surface Pro 7+ is a tablet. MacBook Air has a 13.3-inch display, with a resolution of 227 PPI, and Surface Pro 7+ has a 12.3-inch display, with a resolution of 267 PPI.

Processor

MacBook Air is among the first ones to feature the high-performance M1 processor. And you have two options here: a seven-core GPU or a variant with an eight-core GPU. Both of them have an eight-core CPU.

Surface Pro 7+ comes with 11th-gen Intel Core processors – Intel Core i3, i5, and i7 or Core i7-1185G7, a quad-core chip.

RAM

Surface Pro 7+ comes with 8GB, 16GB, or 32 GB of RAM, while MacBook Air has 8GB or 18GB of RAM.

Battery

MacBook Air offers 18 hours of battery life, while Surface Pro 7+ offers only 15 hours of battery life.

Portability

Surface Pro 7+ is ultra-light, at 1.7 pounds for the tablet. With the keyboard attached, that’s 1.38 pounds. MacBook Air is heavier, at 2.8 pounds.

Colors

MacBook Air comes in Silver, Gold, or Space Gray. Surface Pro 7+ comes with Matte Black or Platinum.

Price

The notebook has a starting price of $999. Surface Pro 7+ has a starting price of $849, but only for the tablet. The Type Cover costs $160, so the total price would be of $1,009.

Keep in mind that the Intel Core i3 chip is slower than the M1.

Ports

Surface Pro 7+ comes with LTE Advanced connectivity, but MacBook Air has no cellular connectivity options. Moreover, Surface Pro 7+ has both USB-A and USB-C. Also, a MicroSDXC card reader for the Wi-Fi model. MacBook Air only has two ports, and they are USB-C and Thunderbolt.

Storage

MacBook Air and Surface Pro 7+ offer 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage. Other than that, MacBook Air also offers 2 TB of storage. But Surface Pro 7+ has a removable SSD for increased security. So it may be hard to choose here.

No matter which one you choose, they are both extremely good and worth the money.
