Windows 10 update 104, often known as Microsoft Edge, has begun rolling out to the Stable channel. This version includes new rules for IT administrators and refinements to the enhanced security mode to increase security while using less popular websites.

In November of 2021, Microsoft released Edge with an upgraded security mode, formerly known as Super Duper Secure mode. The function serves to safeguard consumers from potential dangers encountered online. To further guard against memory-related vulnerabilities and lower the attack surface, it basically turns off the JavaScript just-in-time (JIT) compiler.

In Microsoft Edge version 104, the default security level has been lowered to “Basic,” making it easier to use in the enhanced security mode. To complement the current Balanced and Strict settings, a new Basic setting will be accessible through the Preferences menu.

In Microsoft Edge, you may activate the high-security settings by going to the menu: Settings and more > Settings > Privacy, search, and services. To increase your online security, go to the Security menu and activate the toggle for that area. After that, make sure the maximum security setting is set to Basic.

The enhanced security option functionality may also be configured for all end users in an organization using Group Policy settings used by IT administrators. One additional feature is the option to whitelist certain, safe websites.

The most recent version of Microsoft Edge adds support for importing data from Google Chrome during the First Run Experience. In order to import data into Chrome, users must first sign in to their Google Account. The “AutoImportAtFirstRun” policy, however, may be changed by IT administrators to “DisabledAutoImport” to disable this behavior.

Last but not least, the Password Manager in the latest Edge version has a policy that enables administrators to limit the maximum password length. Microsoft Edge may be set up to automatically import bookmarks and history from other browsers through a different policy.

For Windows and Mac users, Microsoft Edge 104 should update automatically, but if it doesn’t, they may manually initiate the upgrade by visiting the app’s About page. On their support page, you can read the complete release notes for this version.
