Meta, the company formerly known as Facebook, has great plans for the future of Virtual Reality. The brand is looking to implement the metaverse, meaning a more modern iteration of the internet than ever. It will support lasting 3D environments with the help of headsets meant for virtual and augmented reality.

According to Contelegraph.com, Meta is presenting a preview for its new haptic gloves built for Virtual Reality, and they’re simply amazing! The haptic rendering used can send precise instructions to the device from the hands. The sensations that people experience match their actions from the virtual world.

A work that lasted for seven years

Meta and its VR tech company Reality Labs had been working for seven years on the new product. Feel free to check out the official video presenting the mind-blowing product:

To have an even better idea for what the haptic gloves can do, here’s another statement of those from Meta, as quoted by Contelegraph.com:

Imagine working on a virtual 3D puzzle with a friend’s realistic 3D avatar. As you pick up a virtual puzzle piece from the table, your fingers automatically stop moving as you feel it within your grasp.

Everybody wondered why Facebook changed its name to Meta back in October. The company was enjoying great success, at least for its social media services. But the idea was to emphasize more on the so-called metaverse that’s already been outlined.

Here’s another important statement from the relevant blog post, as quoted by the same aforementioned source:

The reality of these being an affordable, accessible tool for regular consumers is still some time off. I mean, look at the mess of the cables connecting these prototypes.
