GTA 6: Every Single Rumour Out There

As of the year 2022, nine years have passed since Grand Theft Auto 5 was first released, and there has been no sign of a sequel. There has never been such a long time between major releases in the Grand Theft Auto series. If the leaks and indications are to be believed, however, the wait for GTA 6 will be worthwhile. This next Grand Theft Auto game will include a large but familiar landscape, a protagonist that is really their own person, and a nod to an earlier game in the series. To far, we have discussed every facet of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA VI), such as its launch date, plot, characters, and more.

Launch date

In a Newswire post from February 2022, Grand Theft Auto creator Rockstar Games said that development on the “next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway”.  While the primary purpose of this message was to inform the GTA V fan group of recent developments, the post concluded with a cryptic reference to the series’ long-term destiny. Finally, in late June of 2022, Rockstar Games issued a statement saying they were putting all they had into creating Grand Theft Auto VI. As such, it is clear that the creators take the GTA series seriously. As a result of this news, they have temporarily suspended work on other projects, including the remasters of Grand Theft Auto 4 and Red Dead Redemption. Players of Red Dead Redemption were not overjoyed by the announcement.

While both announcements include heartfelt dedications, none gives us a firm delivery date. Chris Klippel, a notorious GTA leaker, is to be thanked instead for providing new details about the release date of GTA 6. As Klippel puts it, we won’t see Grand Theft Auto 6 until the latter months of 2024. Despite his lack of official Rockstar ties, he has previously provided accurate information on Grand Theft Auto 5.

Journalist Jason Schreier of Bloomberg backed the same time frame in a different Twitter thread. Taking into account the leaks and the absence of official announcements, Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to launch in late 2024 or early 2025.

Platforms

Ten years have passed since Grand Theft Auto V, and a lot has happened in the game industry since then. Also, given Rockstar Games’ history of innovation, Grand Theft Auto VI will likely debut only on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox One X/S. To conclude, it’s safe to say that Grand Theft Auto 6 on PlayStation 4 will never be released.

Further, similar to Grand Theft Auto 5, the game’s creators may release further updates including a PC version. The release of Grand Theft Auto 6 for PC might be delayed until late 2025 or early 2026 if this is the case. In contrast, Grand Theft Auto 5 debuted on game consoles in 2013, followed by a PC release in 2015. If nothing else, it’s a shorter wait than the PC launch of Marvel’s Spider-Man.

New Game Engine

The power of the game’s engine has a major effect on the game’s narrative. On top of a gaming engine, the game’s environment loads, operates, and engages with the player. Keeping this in view, Chris Klippel, the leaker who provided us with the release date for GTA 6, has said that the new Rage engine is being used in the development of Grand Theft Auto. The engine used for GTA 5 and RDR2 is outdated in comparison to this current one. If this is true, then not only will the visuals be really stunning, but the tasks will get more complex as well. GTA 6 has the potential to expand the brand beyond the “go and kill” objectives that have become synonymous with the series thanks to its improved game engine and more robust platform support.

 Chapters

Michael Pachter, a reporter for Business Insider, said in March of 2022 (via YouTube) that Grand Theft Auto 6’s plot might span more than 500 hours and take place in a number of different locales. Despite the lack of evidence supporting Pachter’s assertion, this is a solid response to gamers’ concerns that Grand Theft Auto 5 is too short.

What’s more, assuming they follow the same chapter-based structure as Red Dead Redemption 2, we may be getting a lot of fresh content as the chapters go, including objectives, places, and people. This is also applicable to the location-based DLCs we’ll be covering in the next section. Changing the game’s setting may unlock additional chapters, which can include new quests and characters.

Grand Theft Auto 6’s Plot

They say there’s a connection between GTA 6’s two major protagonists. According to the source, the plot of this partnership is based on the real-life criminal couple Bonnie and Clyde, who operated in the early 20th century. Tom Henderson, a reputable game leaker, has disclosed that the future game will be placed in present times, so fans need not fear.

There was additional plot detail given in a now-deleted 2020 Reddit post, but it’s consistent with the present data. The Redditor claims that GTA 6 was originally nicknamed “Project Americas,” implying that the game will take place in both North and South America. However, it was only a preliminary sketch that was eventually thrown out. Like in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories, the game’s protagonists are tasked with establishing a thriving drug trade.

Playable Characters

According to a recent Bloomberg article, Rockstar Games is actively working to improve its reputation, and that campaign extends beyond the real world. The gender wage discrepancy at Rockstar Games has been brought up by many former and present workers. The Grand Theft Auto series is another franchise where things aren’t great.

There are a total of sixteen games in the Grand Theft Auto series, counting expansion packs as well. Playable female characters were limited to the first two Grand Theft Auto games. Thus far, every version of the game played has been exclusively male. The good news is that GTA 6 will have a female heroine and a male lead who is intimately linked to her, creating a dynamic combo to carry the tale. Positively, Bloomberg also states that this playable female character is Latina.
