Foldable iPhones Might Feature Self-Healing Displays

Apple releases new iPhones every year, which means that clearly, the company won’t run out of new ideas too soon. Future iPhone models might be equipped with an out-of-this-world display that’s capable of a revolutionizing function to heal itself.

The incredible function could be implemented on Apple’s first foldable iPhone, as a new patent filing that has been spotted by Patently Apple reveals, according to NextPit. What’s for sure is that everybody is waiting for the Cupertino-based giant to release a foldable iPhone, considering that pretty much all the other top smartphone manufacturers have released such devices – Samsung and Huawei are just two of them.

What exactly is a self-healing display

If the information is correct, Apple has already been working for years on self-healing displays. What such screens mean is that scratches and dents won’t be a problem for them anymore, as they’ll disappear if ambient light or heat kicks in. This would be possible due to a cover layer augmented by a second one on top, and the simple fact of charging the smartphone could contribute to the healing process.

The idea of a self-healing display is not new at all, as Apple has likely been working on such a function for a few years already.

A foldable iPhone has long been rumored in the online realm. You may call it iPhone Fold, although the way it will be officially called is anybody’s guess. As for a possible release date, the most reasonable launch period at this point is represented by the year 2025. Apple will probably release its foldable device about three years from now. However, there’s also a positive aspect in this scenario, as the famous tech behemoth has a lot of time left to test and implement many interesting features and specs.
