Dragon Ball Super Theory: Vegeta Could Become the New God of Destruction

Vegeta achieved a new transformation while fighting Granolah, and it looks pretty impressive. Not to mention the power, as it’s supposed to rival that of the gods. Known as the Ultra Ego form, Vegeta’s new level summons powers of a God of Destruction such as Beerus.

Everyone is wondering now if the Saiyan Prince actually became the New God of Destruction. As far as the Dragon Ball Super Manga reveals for us, that job is still taken by Beerus. But when it comes to Dragon Ball, you never know how the series can surprise you.

A God of Destruction is not evil

Some Vegeta fans may be disappointed about this, but the Saiyan achieving the new Ultra Ego form doesn’t mean that he’ll return to his dirty past from Dragon Ball Z and become evil again. Despite its moniker, a God of Destruction isn’t evil at all. As King Kai explained to Goku when Beerus made his first appearance in the anime, a God of Destruction uses his tremendous power only to maintain some sort of balance in the Universe. He destroys entire planets, indeed, but not for selfish or evil purposes.

Vegeta can surely rival in strength with Beerus at this point, but the Saiyan might even not be attracted by the job, either. One of the best arguments is that Earth itself could be on the list of targets for a God of Destruction. It happened before when Beerus wanted to obliterate it. But again, he didn’t want to do it for any evil purposes.

Vegeta is still pretty much a good character who cares about the Earth and his family. Also, he wouldn’t randomly destroy planets, although he did it before back in the old days when he was pure evil.

A long road

Vegeta went a very long road before achieving his new and ultimate form – Ultra Ego. He was a space pirate back in DBZ, wandering from planet to planet with his henchman Nappa for evil purposes. Vegeta was the embodiment of evil, destroying entire planets and civilizations without any remorse.

His biggest desire at that time was to become a Super Saiyan. Now you can easily imagine how weak Vegeta was compared to how he is today, considering that he couldn’t even transform into the very first Super Saiyan with yellow hair. Goku had to transform instead, and from that point, everyone’s favorite Saiyan was constantly one step ahead of Vegeta. However, the Saiyan Prince had his moments afterward when he surpassed Goku, but only for short moments.

Going further, Vegeta achieved higher heights in terms of power that he never thought was possible. He became a Super Saiyan God and even went far beyond that transformation. Vegeta obtained such levels after intense training alone and with the gods. His main motivation was always to surpass Goku. For the moment in the Dragon Ball Super Manga, the chances are great that Vegeta is even stronger than Goku. The Ultra Ego form is likely stronger than the Ultra Instinct level of Goku, but nobody can tell for sure. Surely we’ll see a confrontation someday, as the anime is supposed to come back with a second season in 2023.

Vegeta is currently at his peak, as the chances are huge that he can’t become any stronger. He even once said in the DBS anime that he and Goku are approaching the limits of their bodies while they could go only Super Saiyan Blue. Either way, Vegeta could indeed become the new God of Destruction if Beerus leaves the job and if Earth won’t be on any target list.
