Authorities around the world are relying on COVID vaccines as much as possible. Young citizens such as those of 12-to-15 years old are also targeted, and there’s a newly approved vaccination booster for them.

According to The Washington Post, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of COVID vaccine boosters for those children between 12 and 15 years of age.

Another measure of the FDA is that it shortens the time needed between the second dose of Pfizer’s COVID vaccine and a booster dose. Initially, the period was of six months. As for now, the new amount of time measures only five months.

Better masks are needed?

The Attending Physician of the US, Mr. Brian P. Monahan, strongly rooted for remote work and the usage of better masks as measures to limit the spread of the Omicron variant. What can “better masks” mean in this case? It’s simple: KN95 and N95.

As quoted by The Washington Post, Monahan declared:

The daily case rates will increase even more substantially in the coming weeks,

These cases represent both a rising rate of ‘breakthrough infections’ among mostly previously vaccinated individuals and several unvaccinated individuals.

However, there’s also some good news when it comes to the Omicron variant, although it’s spreading like wildfire. Dr. Scott Gottlieb, who is former FDA Commissioner, declared as quoted by CBSNews.com:

There’s a very clear, as I said, decoupling between cases and hospitalizations and does appear now based on a lot of experimental evidence that we’ve gotten just in the last two weeks, that this is a milder form of the coronavirus appears to be a more of an upper airway disease and a lower airway disease that’s good for most Americans.

Surely FDA’s approval for vaccinating more children isn’t seen as beneficial by everyone, and it will be interesting to see how people will react.
