The Los Angeles County coroner has disclosed the reason for rapper Coolio’s demise. The event is still deeply tragic and shocking. On September 28, 2022, Coolio, whose actual name was Artis Ivey Jr., passed away. According to press releases, he passed away at one of his friends’ houses in Los Angeles when he was only 59. Coolio will be forever in our hearts, and we’ll remember him as one of the greatest artists of our era!

According to the coroner’s findings, which were made public through its online database, the cause of his death was related to something known as the “effects of fentanyl, heroin, and methamphetamine.” It has also been determined that the tragic death was, in fact, “accidental” in nature.

Finally, considering “other particular diseases,” the report also mentions “cardiomyopathy, unexplained asthma, and phencyclidine usage.”

According to the Department of Justice, PCP is another name for phencyclidine. As patients started “experiencing postoperative delirium with hallucinations,” the anesthetic that had been produced originally as an IV anesthetic was afterward withdrawn. On the other hand, a Heart muscle disorder known as cardiomyopathy makes it more difficult for the heart to pump blood to the body’s other organs. The Mayo Clinic states that cardiomyopathy “may result in cardiac failure.”

Coolio was raised in Compton, and he was tremendously proud of that. We can totally understand him considering the amount of success of another artists that formed the legendary NWA group.

Coolio’s early breakthrough in music occurred at a period when rappers from Southern California, as previously said, ruled the Billboard charts. Let’s take some time and remember the hits “It Takes a Thief” and “Gangsta’s Paradise,” his first two albums, soared to the top of the charts and received a ton of positive reviews. What a legend! He received a Grammy for the song “Gangsta’s Paradise,” the popular title tune of the movie “Dangerous Minds,” for which he wrote the music.
