It’s nice to see that in the present, more and more treatments for COVID are being discovered. This scenario seemed impossible at the start of the ongoing pandemic when no medical treatment worked to save patients.

According to AFP Fact Check, some Facebook posts from Thailand had been making misleading claims that chlorine dioxide can eradicate COVID. In fact, there is not enough scientific evidence that chloric dioxide can be effective against the coronavirus.

A Thai-language post made on Facebook and shared in late 2021 in a large group wrote the following, as quoted by AFP Fact Check:

ClO2 or CDS or MMS completely eradicates Covid-19. Bolivia has legally authorised the use of chlorine dioxide for Covid-19 treatment (because it has been opposed by vaccine manufacturers).

CIO2 means chlorine dioxide, CDS is Chlorine Dioxide Solution, and MMS means Mirecle Mineral Solutions, which is a common name for chlorine dioxide.

Teerayut Vilaivan, who’s a professor of chemistry from the Chulalongkorn University of Bangkok, declared as quoted by the same source mentioned above:

Chlorine dioxide is a chemical substance which effectively eradicates germs, but only for industrial purposes as a bleacher or surface cleaner. It must not be used in humans,

Chlorine dioxide has very dangerous properties. Those who take it can suffer deadly health effects. It should not be used as a medicine.

Considering the current rampant surge of the Omicron variant of COVID across the world, you can easily get convinced that the world sure needs medical and efficient ways to tackle the coronavirus. According to worldometers.info, the USA is dealing with roughly 800,000 infections every day due to the current surge.

The same source tells the world that European countries such as France, the UK, Germany, Spain, and others are reporting record numbers of COVID infections as well.
