Wentworth News – Will We Ever Get A 9th Season?

Wentworth is a prison drama tv show that first aired in 2013 and rapidly became one of the most beloved prison drama series, similar to Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black.

Netflix has released some follow-up seasons to it since then.

The streaming service has just published a lineup of future releases for September 2021, but, much to the fans’ surprise, Wentworth season 9 wasn’t one of them.

Many enthusiasts are wondering when will the last season of Wentworth be released on Netflix, considering that the 9th season has started showing in Australia.

For eight seasons, the series pushed its characters through intense challenges, and it makes sense that fans are wondering who will live to see the finale and who won’t.

Some sources suggested that the filming of the series’ 9th season was hindered by the worldwide pandemic.

Most entertainment-related projects have been delayed due to health restrictions.

However, some sources say that most of the 9th season was already filmed by the time when the coronavirus hit the country hard.

Wentworth Season 9 is currently available on Fox Showcase, which means that there is still hope for Netflix users.

Seasons 5-8 debuted on Netflix only a day after their season finales aired.

As the 9th season consists of ten episodes, each airing every Thursday, we expect that the last season will be published on Netflix on October 27.

However, that date will stand up as long as the series will take no breaks.

Wentworth is the brainchild of Lara Radulovich and David Hannam, based on Reg Watson’s 1979 tv series bearing the same name.

Bea Smith, who got imprisoned after killing her husband, was the main character of Foxtel’s initial show.

After she reaches the pinnacle of the jail hierarchy, follow-up seasons depict new personalities before reaching Bea status.

Wentworth received praise thanks to its realistic depiction of prison life and the top-notch performance of the series’ female characters.

Many fans are eager to see their beloved characters’ evolution, especially as the eighth season ended on a cliffhanger.
