The ongoing COVID pandemic has affected each and every one of us in one way or another. Apart from the infection with the virus itself, we’ve all been affected by restrictions and rough measures related to the pandemic.

The very first COVID case was reported more than two years ago, in November 2019, in Wuhan (China). Later on, the virus quickly started to spread. During the first months after the first outbreak, many people started to wonder when it will all end. Luckily or not, the CDC has something to say about this.

Dr. Rochelle Walensky brings her prediction: the light from the end of the tunnel is far away

According to abc7ny.com, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky believes that the ongoing pandemic is far from over. But she also is certain that the pandemic will come to an end at some point.

Walensky told Dr. Jennifer Ashton, the Chief Medical Correspondent of ABC News, as quoted by abc7ny.com:

We’ve gotten pretty cavalier about 1,100 deaths a day,

That’s an extraordinary amount of deaths in a single day from this disease,

We can’t — I can’t — be in a position where that is OK.

The CDC director also spoke about the facemasks, adding that one day, people will stop wearing them. Walensky said, as cited by the same source mentioned above:

Masks are for now, they’re not forever,

We have to find a way to be done with them.

According to data revealed by worldometers.info, over 5.3 million people have died worldwide because of COVID-19 ever since the pandemic started. The same source reveals that the USA remains the most affected country, followed by India, Brazil, the UK, Russia, Turkey, France, Germany, and so on.
