In case you are not very familiar with Spotify Wrapped, it is an overview of people’s favorites on the platform and comes every year!

It provides a way for users to look back on their streaming habits all throughout the year that just passed and share their favorites with their friends and followers on social media.

Not only that but Spotify also drops an aggregated edition that compiles people’s top artists, podcasts, songs and other listening trends.

With that being said, Bad Bunny is the official top artist on Spotify again, for the third consecutive year, followed by Taylor Swift and Drake.

The company also revealed the artists that were most shared on social media, the victor being Taylor Swift this time around, followed by The Weeknd and Bad Bunny.

Funnily enough, the top three songs were not from any of the top three artists of the year, Harry Styles’ “As it Was” taking the top spot, followed by Glass Animals’ “Hear Waves” and Kid LAROI’s “Stay.”

Of course, the main reason why these particular songs have become so popular in 2022 was related to their impressive popularity on social media platforms such as Instagram Reels and, of course, TikTok!

But, of course, Spotify is not only for music streaming, being one of the biggest platforms for podcasts as well, the most popular in this category being The Joe Rogan Experience.

Most streamed throwback tracks and albums were also revealed and they were Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” and Eminem’s iconic LP The Marshall Mathers.

Running Up That Hill by Kate Buch managed to grow no less than 8,700% in interest after getting featured on the fourth season of Stranger Things in some of the most iconic scenes of the beloved series.

After two years of pandemic and social isolation, wedding content also skyrocketed by 620 percent on Spotify.

Users also listened to many songs that suited playlists based on memes like “They’re a 10 but -”, “Little Miss …” and the “I really like corn” meme song.

Spotify is not the only platform that releases yearly overviews, YouTube Music doing its own, known as Recap.

While there were no results as detailed when compared to Spotify’s, YouTube Music users also managed to generate a so-called “music personality” based on their listening habits throughout the years and also hard to find content that is generally unique to YouTube.
